NEWFOUNDLAND – FOGGED IN, BUT AT LEAST IT WASN’T HOT.

Day 95 – It was very foggy this morning at 7:15, 59 degrees, humid & breezy. We’d intended to take a drive around this beautiful area and get some pictures today. The fog was supposed to burn off by 2 p.m., so we hung around the RV relaxing, doing some food prep for tonight’s cooking, and a couple of loads of laundry at the campground laundry facility, The fog was dense & again, the only sounds we heard were the Sea Gulls.

NEWFOUNDLAND – NOTRE DAME PROVINCIAL PARK TO BUCHANS JUNCTION.

Day 93 – It was 67 degrees and humid this morning when we got up. We checked out the weather situation for the next ten days & decided NOT to leave tomorrow for Leading Tickles & the town park in Point Leamington. If we went south instead of north, the temperatures would be about 20 degrees cooler.

NEWFOUNDLAND – NOTRE DAME PROVINCIAL PARK TO LEADING TICKLES.

Day 92 – Today was the end of Month #3, Trip 6. Our third month’s recap is at the end of today’s blog. Today was 65 degrees this morning at 7 a.m., sunny and it was warming up quickly. We left for a drive; the campground was crowded and we knew it’d be hot & noisy in no time. We headed west and north for a long drive to a town called Leading Tickles, hoping it would be cooler closer to the Notre Dame Bay.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, GAIL!!! THINKING OF YOU.

NEWFOUNDLAND – BUNNIES.

Day 91 – We have rabbits at our site – or maybe it’s only one, very active rabbit that hops by and eats lots of greenery. He or she or they are very cute. We watch it from the screened tent; it doesn’t know we’re there. We spent hours in the tent this morning. The swimming hole wasn’t open yet & the traffic driving through the campground didn’t get worse till around check-out time.

NEWFOUNDLAND – FOGO ISLAND TO NOTRE DAME PROVINCIAL PARK.

Day 90 – We got up by alarm at 6 a.m.  It was painful. Sleeping in is a wonderful privilege in life. We packed up and departed the campground at 7:40 a.m.  It was 57 degrees & sunny. It was only one mile to the town dump station & after dumping the RV tanks, we drove south, then west to the ferry terminal. We were plenty early & that insured us a place on the ferry. (The truck & large trailer that had been parked for several days two sites down from us got there too late to fit on the ferry; they would have to wait four hours for the next one. Bummer.)

NEWFOUNDLAND – BRIMSTONE HEAD PARK.

Day 87 – It was 53 degrees this morning at 7:30 a.m., a little windy, cloudy. Rob took a short hike in the morning to the top of the hill that’s by our campsite. We stayed around the Park all day, just relaxing and taking it easy. My knee has been acting up; I think it’s been getting worse because maybe the Cortisone shot is wearing off. I am seeing the doctor again in November. I want to be able to hike around again with Rob.

NEWFOUNDLAND – TWILLINGATE TO FOGO ISLAND.

Day 86 – I am skipping ahead here to describe what’s happening at 8 p.m., NF time. We are at the Brimstone Head Park, a campground on Fogo Island. The sun is beginning to set; the sky is cloudy. We are parked at site #11 on the beach, and the only way we were able to obtain this prime campsite was to travel here last week and reserve it in person. The Seagulls are congregating, catching eel or whatever those small fish are that they are eating. People have gathered at the fire pits, rimmed in the rocks from the surrounding hills, sitting around campfires and chatting. There are several groups of campers who have joined up to have these gatherings. The waves are calm although the winds were high earlier and it’s 54 degrees out. You can hear French, Irish, English, and the standard Newfoundland accent all mixing together. The rocks lead to the sea and around us the cliffs are green. Just perfect.
