About Us

Hello out there, friends & family, and welcome to our travel blog!

After more than 27 years at IBM, Rob retired on January 31, 2017. When we first got together in 1980, we talked about how much fun it would be to quit our jobs and take a couple of years off work to travel, and at that time it was tent camping we were planning. Taking two years off work never became a reality, but we did continue to dream of traveling. In 2003 we bought an old used truck & towed a used 5th wheel trailer behind it, and for 10 years we used this set-up for camping during too-short vacations from work. About 12 years ago, we bought some land in Maine and began to do most of our camping vacations there. In 2013 the old truck became too expensive to fix, so in preparation for retirement, we bought a new 31′ Winnebago Vista. We’ve been camping since then with our 4 cats, towing our Honda CRV behind the RV.

In order to keep a record for ourselves of our journeys, and to keep people in the loop as to where we are and what we’re doing, we’ve created this “journal” of our travels. We do need to point out that this blog is for us, for our records; therefore, it’s not being written to entertain others and you’ll probably find it boring and mundane. You’ll wonder, why on earth did they include that information, or who cares if the cats are pooping regularly. It will often be too long and rambling. For this we apologize! On the other hand, maybe it will be somewhat interesting from time to time.
