TRAVEL DAY

From: Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, Lower Campground, British Columbia.

To: Long Beach Golf Course Campground, Tofino, British Columbia.

Day 259 – We were up early again this morning to make a reservation at a campground that just opened for reservations today. We got the campsite we wanted for two months from now. It was 58 degrees and sunny. We are going to the west coast, back into the land of fog and cooler temperatures.

CULINARY DELIGHTS.

Day 257 – We got up early to book our campsite at a Provincial Park for a stay beginning two months from now. We’ve got it down now. Got our second choice site – our first choice campsite had been reserved. Rob took a long walk to the waterfalls and along the River, part of this Park. We had visited the Day Use area when we first got here, vowing to come back on a sunny day.

WHALE WATCHING FROM A ZODIAC BOAT.

Day 256 – After an early lunch in the RV, we left for our whale watching trip. We had to be at the dock at French Creek at 12:30 p.m. for a 1 p.m. departure. We were taking the tour through Ocean Ecoventures based in Parksville and Cowichan Bay. It was a small tour, allowing no more than 12 people on board the Zodiac (RIB-rigid inflatable boat), and that is including the crew.

A DAY ON THE WATER.

Day 255 – The rain and clouds are gone and it’s warming up. Just in time for the weekend, the campground and tourist activities will be full. Today was the perfect day to spend on a boat. We arrived at the dock in Port Alberni at 7:30 a.m. On the way to Port Alberni, we passed Cathedral Grove. There were already a few cars parked in the parking lot. We will definitely have to go early when we visit this area.

THANKS TO THE BROCHURES…..

Day 254 – …….we found some great things to do and made reservations – things we wouldn’t have known about otherwise since we are having internet problems. There is a boat that departs from Port Alberni three days a week and travels south and west to the Pacific Ocean & back again to Port Alberni. It is an all-day trip. We will be doing that tomorrow. We also booked an afternoon whale watch trip for Friday. We’ll be looking for Orca (Killer) Whales.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARK T. (FROM US & LUCA)! Sorry, but this could be a BELATED Birthday greeting if we don’t have a signal from the new campground, again.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Cowichan River Provincial Park, Stoltz Pool Campground, British Columbia.

To: Little Qualicum Falls Campground, Lower Campground, British Columbia.

Day 252 – We were up early this morning, therefore we could take our time packing up. We departed Cowichan River Provincial Park at 10:20 a.m. It was 60 degrees and partly sunny. Because there were no hook-ups and no dump station, we had to drive west to Lake Cowichan to dump tanks and get fresh drinking water for the next campground, which also had no hook-ups. This extra step added an hour to our travel time.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL THE DADS WE KNOW. (And that includes a sloppy kiss from LUCA to MARK & MARK!)

Day 251 – It was supposed to rain all day today. It was warm and humid out when we got up at 5:30 a.m. We had to be at the Lake Cowichan library parking lot before 7 a.m. in order to have an internet signal when the reservations system opened up. We were successful in getting a campsite at our chosen campground for three nights beginning August 19. We’ll need to repeat this process several more times in the near future to secure sites to get us through August in British Columbia.
