QBC, REVISITED.

Day 258 – We slept in this morning. What is it about really good food that makes you sleep so hard? Or is it the alcohol? Hee hee. Rob got a picture of a young Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker this morning as it hammered away at a tree nearby.

We washed our hair this morning and did a few things in the RV in preparation for leaving tomorrow – new location. Our brunch/lunch reservations at QBC were for 12:30. After yesterday afternoon’s “happy hour”, we were looking forward to trying a different menu. If this meal is as good as yesterday’s meal, we will try to get dinner reservations when we come back by here in about 2 weeks.

We got a seat on the patio this time. We had a view of the Ocean and we had a table that wasn’t in the direct sun. It was already in the mid-80’s and there was a nice breeze. We ordered non-alcoholic drinks that were basically lemonade with ginger and soda and a sprig of rosemary. For brunch, I ordered the Crispy Portobello Burger (marinated roasted portobello mushroom flash-fried in a tempura batter served on a brioche roll with basil pesto, vegan mayo, carmelized onions, and arugula plus french fries and spicy ketchup) and Rob ordered the Ocean Avocado Toast (smashed avocado, dill cream cheese, smoked salmon, shaved red onion, crispy capers, and microgreens on house-made herb focaccia) with a poached egg. All was incredibly good. Then we ordered our dinner to go: 2 Caesar Salads, one with grilled prawns (mine) and one with smoked salmon (Rob’s). Yes, we will try to come back for dinner in a couple of weeks.

Next we drove to French Creek Fish Market and bought some fresh fish, caught today – Sockeye Salmon and Halibut, and we stopped at a nice grocery store in Qualicum Beach for a few more grocery items. Back at the RV we sat outside until almost dark in the tent. Sunday night, much quieter than the previous two weekend nights. We had a good stay at Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park.
