ABOUT LOWER CAMPGROUND AT LITTLE QUALICUM FALLS PROVINCIAL PARK: Located 15 minutes west of Qualicum Beach and 25 minutes east of Port Alberni, this Park was convenient to everything we wanted to do. In fact we didn’t even get to several items on our list and will do those when we are returning from Tofino and staying near Port Alberni.
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park had two campgrounds, the Lower Campground and the Upper Campground. The Little Qualicum River runs through the Park. There are two waterfalls in the Park and many hiking trails. It is very pretty. We would stay here again.
There are no hook-ups at either campground. There is no dump station. Drinking water is available at both campgrounds but only for filling hand-held containers. You cannot fill a tank using a hose. At both campgrounds there are restrooms. There are no showers. There is parking and a picnic area at the Day Use area near to the trails to the waterfalls. We brought full tanks of drinking water with us; there is a dump station in Port Alberni at Canadian Tire on Highway 4.
There are 96 campsites total in the two campgrounds. Most sites in the Lower Campground had lots of trees around them and fairly good privacy. Upper Campground campsites had some sites that were somewhat open. The Lower Campground’s middle road was two-way travel so all of those campsites could be front in. Most of the campsites in the Upper Campground were back in.
Lower Campground: We stayed in site #79. It was a back-in campsite. We loved it. It was very private. It was our preferred campsite for the entire Park even though it was a back in. Other good sites would be 93, 84 thru 89, 94, 95, and 73 although it is a little open to the road, these are all front-in sites.
Upper Campground: The only front-in campsites that would fit us would be 14 and 15 and some of the other sites, in addition to being back-in would be too short.
Check-in time was 1 p.m. Check-out time was 11 a.m. There is a camp host on duty. Generator hours are 9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Cost for 7 nights was $179.00, Canadian.
