SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY HERE.
Day 63 – And it arrived here today. It was 35 degrees this morning when we got up, not quite frost-advisory weather as was predicted. We woke up to very dense fog. Discouraged, we decided not to rush off to catch the ferry to Change Islands. By 9:35 a.m. the fog was gone and it was brightly sunny. How nice!

Day 63 – The low was 39 degrees and it rained hard all night. It only reached 42 degrees today, and there’s a frost advisory for tonight. Tomorrow is supposedly the longest day of the year. Does that mean it will clear up and start being warmer then?

Day 61 – The low temperature last night was 37 degrees. When we got up this morning, it was 40 and raining lightly, still foggy. Since it’s raining, we plan to stay at the RV until we leave for an early dinner. Bang Belly is closed Tuesday & Wednesday, and we’re leaving the Island Thursday morning. This will be our last chance to try them for dinner this trip.

Day 59 – It was 41 degrees this morning and not raining. The fog was dense; it was not windy. Not a great day for taking pictures due to the fog, we decided to check out some things on the island (like is there any way we can get a propane tank refilled; where is the dump station; where do we get gasoline; where are the seafood co-ops where we can get local fish to take with us; and most importantly, where is the island’s best restaurant?).

To: Brimstone Head RV Park, Fogo Island, NL.
Day 58 – It rained last night and was still raining this morning when we got up. At 6:30 a.m. it was 46 degrees. We departed Peyton’s Woods at 9 a.m. after dumping tanks. The temperature had dropped to 41 degrees; it was windy & raining. Certainly not a good day for taking pictures from a ferry.
NEWFOUNDLAND – LAST DAY AT FOGO.
Day 89 – It was 53 degrees again this morning, but it was foggy. Rob sat outside with his coffee. Too cold for me; I stayed under the covers. The sun was supposed to come out about noon but the fog was getting thicker all morning. We went ahead and went out to finish driving around the Island.

Day 88 – It was still 53 degrees this morning. And windy. And then when we’d given up all hope, around 11 a.m., the sun appeared. Good Day Sunshine. We were out the door shortly thereafter.

NEWFOUNDLAND – BRIMSTONE HEAD PARK.
Day 87 – It was 53 degrees this morning at 7:30 a.m., a little windy, cloudy. Rob took a short hike in the morning to the top of the hill that’s by our campsite. We stayed around the Park all day, just relaxing and taking it easy. My knee has been acting up; I think it’s been getting worse because maybe the Cortisone shot is wearing off. I am seeing the doctor again in November. I want to be able to hike around again with Rob.
NEWFOUNDLAND – TWILLINGATE TO FOGO ISLAND.
Day 86 – I am skipping ahead here to describe what’s happening at 8 p.m., NF time. We are at the Brimstone Head Park, a campground on Fogo Island. The sun is beginning to set; the sky is cloudy. We are parked at site #11 on the beach, and the only way we were able to obtain this prime campsite was to travel here last week and reserve it in person. The Seagulls are congregating, catching eel or whatever those small fish are that they are eating. People have gathered at the fire pits, rimmed in the rocks from the surrounding hills, sitting around campfires and chatting. There are several groups of campers who have joined up to have these gatherings. The waves are calm although the winds were high earlier and it’s 54 degrees out. You can hear French, Irish, English, and the standard Newfoundland accent all mixing together. The rocks lead to the sea and around us the cliffs are green. Just perfect.
