NEWFOUNDLAND – BUNNIES.
Day 91 – We have rabbits at our site – or maybe it’s only one, very active rabbit that hops by and eats lots of greenery. He or she or they are very cute. We watch it from the screened tent; it doesn’t know we’re there. We spent hours in the tent this morning. The swimming hole wasn’t open yet & the traffic driving through the campground didn’t get worse till around check-out time.
It was 60 degrees this morning when we got up, and sunny. We left after lunch to go for a drive to see some areas we hadn’t driven through yet. It was warming up rapidly & it was time for the kids to go swimming. People were driving through the campground looking for campsites, or just arriving for the weekend. It was a good time for a drive. We drove north of the TCH and towards Bay of Exploits; there were two roads that ran west from Lewisporte to the water & we wanted to check out the towns on these roads. They were pretty but also much more settled than what we’ve been seeing in the more isolated areas. Lewisporte was a decent-sized town & its sprawl also connected to these towns somewhat. But conveniently located above Lewisporte was the Lobster Pound we’d stopped at for lunch when we had gone campground scouting at Notre Dame the week before. We wanted to pick up some more snow crab leg meat; we’d had some of what we bought on Fogo and it’d been so good. Their crab was much more expensive (wish we’d known that in Fogo, we would have bought more), so we just bought 1 lb, and they had one package of 2 lobster tails left at a reasonable price, so we bought that, too. YUM.
We headed back to RV and back out to the tent. The high today was 82 degrees, sunny & a little humid. The swimming noise had died down, but the campground road still had the continuous vehicle traffic running thru. Saturday’s are usually the worse. Tomorrow we’re getting up & out early before it all starts. More driving to new areas and maybe some campground scouting.
