NEWFOUNDLAND – FOGGED IN, BUT AT LEAST IT WASN’T HOT.

Day 95 – It was very foggy this morning at 7:15, 59 degrees, humid & breezy. We’d intended to take a drive around this beautiful area and get some pictures today. The fog was supposed to burn off by 2 p.m., so we hung around the RV relaxing, doing some food prep for tonight’s cooking, and a couple of loads of laundry at the campground laundry facility, The fog was dense & again, the only sounds we heard were the Sea Gulls.

Well, the fog never lifted. We didn’t bother to drive in it, nor did we bother to take any pictures. Tomorrow is another day. We made Tortilla Soup, a huge batch, didn’t even utilize the screened tent, and took a nap. Tough day. Not too much going on. Until the evening, Cars started parking outside the entrance to the Park around 6 p.m. We had moms & dads pushing strollers and lots of kids of all ages on foot, each of them bundled up in wool hats & warm jackets. They were all carrying teddy bears. No, this was not a dream (or nightmare, ho ho). And then they all slowly surrounded the RV. No, not really – that last sentence didn’t happen, but the rest did.

A half hour later, they were still marching in. This was a Teddy Bear Picnic at the RV Park! Seriously. And it was followed by the Community Campfire. They kept coming & coming, appearing one-by-one, emerging from the dense fog, gathering around the area in the middle of the campground by the playground. The music started, happy little tunes, children’s music coming from loudspeakers with a heavy bass tone. Small Newfoundland towns, you can’t beat ’em. The whole town came out and partied with their kids. We enjoyed our Soup & watched it all unfold.
