Day 88 – We did not expect to be changing campsites already, but we did. It was 55 degrees this morning, a few light clouds. I had just gotten in the shower when Rob said that he’d seen some activity outside & he was going to walk over to check if site #4 was leaving. When we’d gotten here, that campsite was the one we wanted, but they appeared to be fully ensconced there, with both a tent & a camper, several people, a couple of vehicles, and even a checkered tablecloth on the picnic table. We thought they’d be here for the long haul. Rob came back & said that, yes, they were packing up, & that it might be awhile before he was back, considering that it was early & the Ranger’s Station probably wasn’t even open yet. Site #4 was a non-reservable site which meant it was first-come, first-served. After the current occupant departed, the first campers to pay for the site got to keep it.

Day 87 – It cooled off nicely last night, 56 degrees this morning at 7 a.m. and sunny. Rob went for a bike ride. We took a short walk by neighboring campsites to see if anyone was packing up – they weren’t. Later, we moved our chairs to the hilltop and sat outside looking out over the Bay. We don’t have the tent up yet, but there was no need to have it up to hide from the bugs – there weren’t any. YAAA.

LIFE’S A DITCH.
Day 86 – Woke up this morning to surprise rain showers. The windows & ceiling vents were all open & everything got wet. The weather forecasters failed again. 7 a.m., 69 degrees, raining hard. We were glad we took down the tent last night; in its place was a big puddle. As we packed up & got ready to move on, the campground was already busy. Today is the first day of the annual Seaplane Fly-In, and it appears to be a big weekend around here.

Day 85 – Rob had his coffee outside by the Lake, then he went out in the kayak. The Black Ducks visited; the scenery was beautiful & the water was calm. It was 58 degrees at 7 a.m., partly cloudy.

Day 84 – Alas, the rain never came. When Rob got up at 6:30 this morning, the wind was howling thru the trees. Then it stopped & became still, 66 degrees. The front was moving through. Gorgeous day today, high 74 degrees, sunny. By 11 a.m., the campground was almost empty. Labor Day Weekend was over.

HAPPY LABOR DAY!
Day 83 – We slept well last night; it was very quiet. This morning Rob got up at 6 a.m. & by 7:00, he was already taking a paddle in his kayak, after having his coffee in a chair right by the water & watching a big frog. It was 65 degrees & partly cloudy. I woke up at 7:10 & when I was making the bed, I looked out the window & saw him leisurely paddling by with such a relaxed smile on his face. I knew I had to get on the move & get out there, too!

Day 82 – We got up & out without our usual relaxing morning; it’s a travel day. At 6:30 a.m. it was 58 degrees & cloudy. We departed Aroostook State Park at 8:55 a.m. after packing up, but we still had to dump tanks at Michaud’s, 3 miles north of the Park, because there was no dump station at Aroostook.

Day 81 – September, really?! Time flies. We were up by 7 a.m. Sunny & 52 degrees. It did not reach the low 40’s like it had been predicted, neither last night nor the night before. But we’re sure that’s coming. Tying up loose ends from August, we checked yesterday to make sure our Absentee Ballots had been mailed to us for the NYS Primary, and we checked with our medical insurances & Social Security/Medicare to make sure the issue regarding our home vs. mailing addresses had been satisfactorily taken care of. It appears things are on the right track again. Life’s little aggravations.

Day 80 – Looks like it will be a gorgeous day today; 50 degrees at 6:30 a.m., sunny. The girls argued over places on the dashboard that had the best sun. We went out to the screened tent for a little while when it got warm enough, then came in for lunch.

Day 79 – We were surprised that they were still having weather in the 90’s at home in NY. Seems like this was a pretty hot summer there; glad we missed most of it. We shall stop complaining about the humidity here! Rob was up at 6:00 a.m., and I was up at 7. The girls have definitely figured out who to pounce on in the morning when they want breakfast. 58 degrees, cloudy & breezy.
