TRAVEL DAY
From: Oxbow Recreation Area BLM Campground, Cibola, AZ – Cibola NWR.
To: Palm Springs/Joshua Tree KOA Campground, Desert Hot Springs, CA.
Day 126 – We got up at 7:25 a.m. It was 36 degrees and sunny. It seems that the hot spell may be cooling off. If that’s the case, we REALLY hate to leave!
CIBOLA NWR 5.
Day 125 – We’ve been gone from home in NY for slightly over 4 months now. We’ve spent the last month in Arizona. Tomorrow we cross the border into California. We’ll be doing a major restocking of food and supplies while we are there, in addition to visiting friends and family.

Day 124 – Pete has become quite the kayaking dog! He had an exciting paddle today and behaved like a champ. The high today was 85 degrees. We went out in our kayaks with Cathie and Pete in the morning before it got too hot. It was perfect out at that time.

Day 123 – It was a hot one today – 85 degrees, sunny without much of a breeze. We took a couple of drives – having the windows down helped with the heat. We went into the small town of Palo Verde to get gas in the Honda – $5.39 per gallon! Yikes!

CIBOLA NWR 3.
Day 122 – The high today was 82 degrees, sunny with a nice breeze. We spent the morning working on reservations for the next portion of our trip. Many places were booked up. We successfully found a couple of places to stop over between this campground and southern California.

Day 121 – The high today was 83 degrees with full sun. It cools off rapidly as soon as the sun goes down but is warm enough to not use the heat most nights. And most of the time there is a nice breeze. Spring appears to have already arrived here. During the day, a Hawk replaced the Heron in the tree outside our RV – guess it’s a great viewing point of the water below.
CIBOLA NWR 1.
Day 120 – This morning we went to Cibola National Wildlife Refuge; we saw lots of birds in 2018 when we were here previously and hoped to do the same this year. Today we were there about 2 hours and had only gone about 1/10 of this section of the Refuge because we spent lots of time on the 1-mile hiking trail. Were we successful? Yep.

To:Oxbow Recreation Area BLM Campground – Cibola National Wildlife Refuge, Cibola, AZ.
Day 119 – We departed Desert View RV Resort at 9 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) and drove south near the California/Arizona border for most of the trip, crossing back into AZ (and Mountain Standard Time) right before reaching our destination near the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge.
TRAVEL DAY
From: Burro Creek Recreation Area BLM Campground, Wikieup, AZ.
To: Desert View RV Resort, Needles, CA.
Day 118 – We got up at 7:10 a.m. It was 25 degrees and windy. After dumping tanks at the campground we departed at 9:40 a.m. It was 44 degrees & sunny. We really liked this campground, but after almost a week here, it was time to move on to some birdwatching.
Note: We just discovered that we have been uploading pictures to our blog at full resolution since Jan. 15, 2022. If you have noticed problems loading our blog posts recently, that is probably the reason. We have fixed the issue and things should speed up quite a bit when loading posts from now on.
BURRO CREEK 5.
Day 117 – It was even colder this morning when we got up. The water spigots at the campground were frozen. So was part of the Creek. We had plenty of propane so our tanks inside the RV did not freeze. YAAA!
