PETE GOES KAYAKING.
Day 124 – Pete has become quite the kayaking dog! He had an exciting paddle today and behaved like a champ. The high today was 85 degrees. We went out in our kayaks with Cathie and Pete in the morning before it got too hot. It was perfect out at that time.
We were “buzzed” by a cropduster several times. Very colorful with the reeds in the background. The pilot came back again and again once he discovered he had a rapt audience. Even Petey was amazed.
We did not go to the wildlife refuge today. Once we got back from kayakingand had lunch, it was quite warm out and we had plenty to do: people to contact regarding our upcoming trip to southern CA to visit relatives & friends, and the search for cat food for the girls. Evidently cat food can be hard to come by these days, and our girls are a picky bunch, so we called pet food sellers in several of the locations we’ll be visiting next week to try to round up some food. The excuse for empty shelves has been that the cat food is all on some ship out in some harbor.
In the evening Cathie and Pete came to visit us in the screened tent. Once the sun went down it cooled off quickly.
