HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY, CHARLOTTE!

CIBOLA NWR 3.

Day 122 – The high today was 82 degrees, sunny with a nice breeze. We spent the morning working on reservations for the next portion of our trip. Many places were booked up. We successfully found a couple of places to stop over between this campground and southern California.

After spending some time before and after lunch in the screened tent, we decided to go to Cibola to drive the Goose Loop. Before leaving we saw a group of Gambel’s Quail running around the campsites.

Because it was mid-afternoon and the hottest part of the day, we didn’t expect to see much at the Wildlife Refuge, but we were pleasantly surprised.

When we returned from the Refuge, I stopped at Cathie’s campsite. She reported that the Quail had been visiting her campsite regularly since we left. Meanwhile, Rob got some pictures of Oregon Junco’s at the campsite next to ours.

Before dark, Cathie and Pete visited us in the screened tent and we caught up on our day’s adventures. Another good day.
