Day 72 – It rained through the night. We never did take the walk to the ranger station yesterday afternoon; it was raining so hard that we didn’t want to go out & get soaking wet. This morning at 8 a.m. it was 55 degrees & cloudy, quite humid. A good day to change campgrounds, although we sure hate to do so.

Day 71 – Beginning of Week 11. It rained all night and continued throughout the day, upper 50’s. It was actually 50 degrees when we got up at 7:30 a.m. We hadn’t ventured outside even once by 3:30 p.m. The girls were enjoying themselves on their heated pads as the rain pitter-pattered on the roof of the RV.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN.
Day 70 – Cold last night, 35 degrees & clear when we got up at 7:45 a.m. We got ready quickly & packed a lunch. Headed out with our hot coffee, anticipating a long day ahead. Lots of back roads to travel – never know what you’ll find. Oh boy!

Day 69 – We were both up around 8 a.m., looking forward to another sunny day. It was 36 degrees last night, but it warmed up fairly quickly today. We packed a lunch so we wouldn’t overeat again, and headed out to go into Fortuna to get a cell signal. We’ve done this so many times, the car can just drive itself there. The temperature in the house held steady overnight; we’ve got our fingers crossed it stays that way. Last night Rob did a few tests on the inverter. It’s working just as it should be. All is again good in our little world.

EMERGING FROM THE DARKNESS.
Day 68 – We got up by the alarm this morning, reminiscent of the days of needing to get up at a certain time with a blaring alarm. Ick, 6 a.m., dark out. We needed to drive in to Fortuna early because of the time difference between here & NY; we had to receive a cell/internet signal to check the temperature in the house & contact the energy company to either cancel or confirm this afternoon’s appointment & unlock the door to let the technician in at home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETH! MAY THERE BE MANY HAPPY CLIMBING DAYS IN YOUR FUTURE!
Day 67 – Rained steadily thru the nite. 49 degrees at 8:30 a.m., light rain this morning. Later we’ll head back to Fortuna where we can get a cell signal. We’ll check to see if the inverter has arrived yet, and if it’s in, we will pick it up and also run some errands in the “big city”.

Day 66 – Rained all night, got up 6:30/7:30, 48 degrees, so far the electricity is working at this campground! As far as we know, there’s still no one else camping here. We have absolutely no phone signal & no internet signal. At some parks you can get a cell signal if you stand on one foot & hop up and down while waving the phone in a circular motion over your head, ha ha, but here there is nothing no matter where you try. This means any time we need to make a call, i.e., to check & see if the inverter has come in, or any time we want to check if the temperature is holding at home, we have to go to Fortuna, which takes about 20-25 minutes, one-way. Strangely though, we can get a weather forecast for the area on the weather radio. There is still a gale warning at sea, with up to 60 mph wind gusts expected where we are. We’re so glad we left yesterday and don’t have to drive the RV today.

Day 65 – 7:30 a.m., 54 degrees & sunny, BUT the furnace is out again at home. We need to stick around by the phone for awhile. At least we have electricity at the campground today. While waiting to get the call to let yet another serviceman into our house, we listened to the weather radio. The changeable weather; now we have a gale warning in effect thru tomorrow night, gusts up to 40 mph inland beginning tonight – looks like we’ll need to leave today because we can’t drive the RV in those conditions. We’d better head out today while the weather is good. While waiting on word from the house regarding the furnace, we packed up. Surprise girls, you get to travel again.
