Day 66 – Rained all night, got up 6:30/7:30, 48 degrees, so far the electricity is working at this campground! As far as we know, there’s still no one else camping here. We have absolutely no phone signal & no internet signal. At some parks you can get a cell signal if you stand on one foot & hop up and down while waving the phone in a circular motion over your head, ha ha, but here there is nothing no matter where you try. This means any time we need to make a call, i.e., to check & see if the inverter has come in, or any time we want to check if the temperature is holding at home, we have to go to Fortuna, which takes about 20-25 minutes, one-way. Strangely though, we can get a weather forecast for the area on the weather radio. There is still a gale warning at sea, with up to 60 mph wind gusts expected where we are. We’re so glad we left yesterday and don’t have to drive the RV today.
The rain let up some around noon, so we went into Fortuna & checked the status at home – so far, so good. We notified relatives that we’d be unreachable for a week or so, but would check for messages once daily. We checked on the status of our inverter order; delivery at the store in Eureka is expected some time tomorrow. We drove back to the RV & hunkered down with the cats. They like it here, they never see anyone, and it’s nice & quiet. As far as we know, no one else is camping here still. It never made it above 51 degrees, cool & very wet. At the campsite, we didn’t feel the winds. The big trees are very protective.
