Day 67 – Rained steadily thru the nite. 49 degrees at 8:30 a.m., light rain this morning. Later we’ll head back to Fortuna where we can get a cell signal. We’ll check to see if the inverter has arrived yet, and if it’s in, we will pick it up and also run some errands in the “big city”.
It stopped raining, sunny, 53 degrees, at 1 p.m. The weather forecast for the next two days is no rain beginning tomorrow, cold at night & warm during the day. We’re off to Fortuna to get a cell signal. It’s really nice in this area when it’s not dark & rainy; we’d forgotten, LOL.
We called the company in Eureka to see if the inverter had arrived there yet; no, maybe later this afternoon. We checked the status of the heat at home – furnace troubles again; seriously, really? Ours is the same furnace that was installed when the house was built – 30 years later, maybe it’s time for a new one. We set up an appointment for someone to check the furnace once again tomorrow afternoon, letting them know that they should also look to see if we might need a new one before we’ve paid for a new one already with these repairs. We went to Ace Hardware in Fortuna to get supplies needed for putting in the inverter. Drove to Eureka to pick up some supplies at Eureka Natural Foods, the excellent health food store we’d been to before. Picked up some wonderfully-fresh salad ingredients, and had lunch there – excellent fresh corn chowder with a jalapeno cheese croissant. Checked on the inverter again, no, it hadn’t arrived yet. Now what do we do? Drive all the way back to the campsite & come back in two hours, hoping the inverter had arrived? Drive around & look at homeless people in Eureka, no thanks. Well, let’s go down to the waterfront & see what we can find.
Turned out the store where we were supposed to pick up the inverter was on the way to the waterfront & as we saw the store, FedEx was just pulling up with its deliveries. That was lucky. YAAAA. We got back to the RV with the inverter & our supplies, 49 degrees & raining again. The high in Eureka today was 58 degrees, partly sunny. Rob began working on the inverter installation immediately, stopping only for a quick dinner.
