BEGINNING OUR DRIVE HOME
TRAVEL DAY
From: North Sydney/Cabot Trail KOA Campground, New Harris, NS.
To:Harbour Light Campground, Braeshore, NS.
Day 170 – We were going to stay at Harbour Light Campground for two nights, but Tropical Storm Phillippe had other plans for us. We changed our plans to beat the wind and rain by moving on to NB tomorrow instead of staying another night in NS. All Done Camping in NB is located out of the predicted high wind path of the storm.

Day 25 – It had stopped raining this morning when we got up – 40 degrees & very windy. We watched some of the people camping near us pack up and leave; the weekend is ending. This included a near miss when campers decided to drive their travel trailer between us and the camper parked next to us, rather than using the road provided (which did not travel between any of the parked vehicles). Duh! We sat inside and watched while others handled it by yelling “watch out” and “whoa” and “stop” at each other. A day in the park!
It may not be raining, but it’s a pretty nasty day out. It’s after lunch now, 48 degrees, and the weather isn’t getting any better. We’ll probably not be going out for a drive.

A SLOW DAY.
Day 24 – Rainy & windy last night, 47 degrees at 8 a.m. this morning. It was a stay-at-home day with the rain and wind continuing plus thunderstorms in the afternoon. Java is afraid of thunder, so she wasn’t happy, but the rest of us relaxed. More people are coming into the campground every day. Most of them were getting set up in their seasonal “homes”. It’s keeping the owner very busy – quite a full time job, but he seems to like what he does. We’re hoping for better weather tomorrow for another drive. We leave here on Monday, stay one night in a campground near the ferry terminal in Sydney, NS, and thenTuesday we leave for Newfoundland.

Day 23 – It was 41 degrees this morning, sunny and a bit windy. I forgot to mention yesterday that we were able to refill our propane tanks right here at the Park – very convenient. We also went to the office to pay for our stay along with the propane charges. We’re scheduled to be here a week total. The owner only charged us for 4 nights! He said the other 3 nights were no charge; he likes to have people return (this is our third stay here) and he loves having people come in early in the season. Well, alright then!

Day 22 – This morning when we got up there was very little wind and it was sunny, 38 degrees. A good day for a drive, YAAA! We were up and around, getting things done so we could leave, rather than sitting around and relaxing. We definitely got some accusing stares from the girls. We told them that we weren’t leaving in the RV, that they could stay home. They still looked anxious.

Day 21 – 37 degrees this morning and still windy, but the sun was out. It’s supposed to warm up tomorrow and Friday, then it rains. We really want to drive around the area; it’s very nice here. Today we just went into Pictou to run some errands.

Day 20 – The low last night was 34 degrees with light rain and plenty of wind gusts. If there was snow last night, we didn’t see it and there wasn’t snow on the ground this morning. At 8 a.m. it was very windy with plenty of clouds and a little sun. We’ll probably stay in today. The girls are sleeping hard this morning.
Later – It was blustery and cold today with a high of only 44 degrees. We caught up on some stuff, read our books, and took naps with the cats. The tide came and went. So did 3 immature Bald Eagles plus one adult. Once we won’t freeze to death or blow away, we’ll get some outdoor pictures.
NEW BRUNSWICK TO NOVA SCOTIA.
TRAVEL DAY
From: All Done Camping RV Park, Newtown, NB.
To: Harbour Light Campground, Braeshore (near Pictou), Nova Scotia (NS).
Day 19 – At 7 a.m. it was 44 degrees and cloudy. We departed the campground at 10:10 a.m. It was 57 degrees, partly cloudy & breezy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet at All Done Camping and look forward to visiting again in October on our way back to Maine. Maybe we’ll even leave the RV Park then!
NOVA SCOTIA.
Day 166 – At 7:45 a.m. it was 41 degrees & sunny. Today we’ll be going from this campground in Nova Scotia to a different one in NS. But first we must get the girls some new kitty litter. We brought five 40-pound bags of their favorite clumping, non-scented litter with us for this trip. But we ran out in Newfoundland & could not find their favorite kind anywhere. We had to buy a bag of the standard, perfumed litter to get us thru until Nova Scotia where they had Petsmart stores. Granted, our cats are spoiled, but we had to agree with them – that perfumed litter was difficult to take in a space as small as an RV. We spent over an hour this morning driving to the closest Petsmart & back to the campground. We are all happy now.

Day 22 – It rained again last night and most of today. It was 45 degrees when we got up in the morning and the temperature never got higher than that during the day. It was quite windy with the gusts shaking the RV at times.
