NEW BRUNSWICK TO NOVA SCOTIA.
TRAVEL DAY
From: All Done Camping RV Park, Newtown, NB.
To: Harbour Light Campground, Braeshore (near Pictou), Nova Scotia (NS).
Day 19 – At 7 a.m. it was 44 degrees and cloudy. We departed the campground at 10:10 a.m. It was 57 degrees, partly cloudy & breezy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet at All Done Camping and look forward to visiting again in October on our way back to Maine. Maybe we’ll even leave the RV Park then!
In New Brunswick we took Route 1 to the Trans Canada Highway, both roads in decent condition. The girls had only the occasional wind gusts to complain about. The highway took us around the outskirts of Moncton, a very large city. At that point, we reached the high temperature of the day, 64 degrees. The rain started up again around noon. We crossed the border into Nova Scotia and soon began climbing up rolling hills that were higher than we’d seen in New Brunswick. The temperature began dropping and the wind increased. We were still inland, but in the distance beyond the hills we saw glimpses of the water. At one point there was a little sleet coming down on the windshield. We stopped for lunch and got gas for the RV. After we left the hills and got closer to the coast, the sun peeked out. There was plenty of evidence of past high winds – lots of trees down on both sides of the road. Traffic was light for the entire trip. In both NB & NS there were signs warning of Moose, but we didn’t see any. YET!
We arrived at Harbour Light Campground near Pictou, NS at 2:45 p.m. It was 52 degrees with wind, light rain, and a little sun. We’d stayed at this campground for a few days, twice in 2019 and we really liked the area. We’ll stay a whole week this time. The owner said they weren’t quite open for the season yet. He would be doing some work still getting the campground ready. He assigned us an excellent campsite with full hook-ups overlooking the water. From the RV, we watched the tide come in and go out. We saw at least 6 Bald Eagles flying by and Ducks were paddling around in the water. Supposedly, there may be snow flurries this evening.
