Happy Birthday, Duane! We hope you are doing well!

THE ROAD TO BURGEO.

Day 159 – Fifty degrees this morning with partial sun, the weather forecast said no rain & manageable winds; so we took the trip to Burgeo to check out the scenery and the rough road conditions. We’d never been to Burgeo because the drive is long, and because of what we’ve read and from what we’ve heard from numerous people about the road.

THE RED FOX, THE WATERFALLS, AND THE VILLAGE AT THE END OF THE ROAD.

Day 158 – Cold again last night, the low last night was 43 degrees. This morning, it was cloudy and rain was supposed to start in the afternoon. We took a drive around the Port au Port peninsula to see a couple of areas we didn’t see last time we were here.

TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF FALL.

Day 157 – More like winter here. The low temperature last night was 39 degrees. When we went to bed, it was raining and we thought we might see snow this morning. We did not, but it was very cloudy today, windy with some rain, and a high of 59 degrees

Due to the lousy weather, we stayed at the RV Park today. Neither one of us was feeling real chipper. We just relaxed with the girls – who were feeling just fine. Some days are like that and you feel the need to just kick back and not do very much. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully it will bring good weather.

A CHANGE OF PLANS.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Kinsmen Prince Edward RV Park & Campground, Corner Brook, NL.

To: Dhoon Lodge & RV Resort, Black Duck Siding, NL.

Day 156 – It was 42 degrees this morning when we got up, but the sun was out. Yaay! Today we were going to move southwest to the tip of the Port au Port peninsula. There is a campground there on the top of a cliff overlooking the open ocean. It’s a town park called Parc Boutte du Cap. It’s very isolated in an incredibly beautiful location.

NEWFOUNDLAND – SNOW.

Day 162 – It rained again during the night & with the cold temperatures, we knew that meant more snow on the mountains this morning.  It was 34 degrees, raining with some wind, at 7:15 a.m. We lost electricity last night; the night before they’d lost electricity in Rocky Harbour. We left the Gros Morne/Norris Point KOA Campground at 10:50 this morning, heading south on Route 430.

WE ARE THINKING OF YOU, GAIL! MUCH LOVE!

NEWFOUNDLAND – HUMBER ARM.

Day 157 – At 7:30 this morning it was 43 degrees and windy. It was very cloudy at first but the sun came out at bit, so we left for some exploring. We had a little rain, lots of wind, plenty of clouds, and a little bit of sun for most of the day – that’s better than no sun at all. The high was a cold & windy 49 degrees.

NEWFOUNDLAND – RAIN & WIND YET AGAIN.

Day 156 – It rained all night long last night & for most of the day today. The wind picked up today becoming fairly windy by late in the day. Pretty nasty day out. We went out after lunch to Stephenville to stock up on groceries at the Dominion Grocery Store. We figured we’d better fill up the refrigerator & pantry while we were near a good store. Later, there probably won’t be one.

NEWFOUNDLAND – ANOTHER RAINY DAY.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN OKIMOTO!

Day 154 – It rained all day. The temperature this morning was 52 degrees; it never got over 55 degrees during the day. We’re getting tired of this weather, but at least the continual rain keeps it cool. We were saying this afternoon that we don’t think we’ve ever been anywhere that got this much rain. People have been telling us since we got here that September was so beautiful, fall colors & all, and September really had the best weather. Well, I guess not this year. But tomorrow is another day & maybe then we can get some pictures of this area.
