NEWFOUNDLAND – RAIN & WIND YET AGAIN.

Day 156 – It rained all night long last night & for most of the day today. The wind picked up today becoming fairly windy by late in the day. Pretty nasty day out. We went out after lunch to Stephenville to stock up on groceries at the Dominion Grocery Store. We figured we’d better fill up the refrigerator & pantry while we were near a good store. Later, there probably won’t be one.

We were amazed to see that the fall coloring in the trees had increased dramatically just in one day. We took the same route yesterday and it was not this colorful. It’s still not at peak but it’s moving that way rapidly. There’s been so much rain for a month now; we were wondering how the ground takes it all in & said we were surprised there wasn’t flooding. Then we got to Stephenville & some of the roads were deep in water puddles. It won’t take much more to cause a problem here.

After shopping we came back to the RV & made a HUGE pot of Potato Mushroom Leek Soup. It’s simmering on the stove right now, and should go well with a slice of homemade bread. It was 49 degrees this morning & only got up to 52 degrees this afternoon. But it’s cozy & warm in the RV. That’s good.
