PLANS CHANGE.
Day 39 – 28 degrees this morning and the hardy hunters had already left – the Park is full of trailers; the trucks are gone. We hung around, catching up on a few things, until it warmed up some, then headed off to Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.

Day 38 – We were up early this morning; the time zone change on top of the recent daylight saving’s time change is messing us up. It rained all night and was 40 degrees at 6:30 this morning. We relaxed a little, then packed up to leave. This campground was so quiet, we kinda hated to leave. Everyone was comfortable except for Java because Gracie sleeps on top of her and she can’t move!
TRAVEL DAY: CHARLESTOWN, INDIANA TO NEW HARMONY, INDIANA.
Day 37 – We had a lot to do this morning! It was a travel day, and in addition to the normal packing up to leave, we had so many extra chores. We really should’ve done some of this yesterday, but we were gone most of the day. Because we’d be using the Honda so much, Rob had cleaned it out to leave plenty of room for Pam & her dogs plus for the items we’d be shopping for – two bags of books, 40 lbs. of kitty litter, a decent-sized restock of groceries, etc., plus some items did stay in the back of the Honda. The kayaks were taken off the top of the car and the bikes removed from the rear. Before leaving, he had to load back up the bikes and kayaks. He had to do some rearranging in the car and in the storage areas of the RV for new/replacement items, taking again into consideration the weight ratios, front-to-back. I had to find some way to fit the foods we purchased plus all our leftovers in the refrigerator (this is not a full-size house refrigerator) and rearrange the heavily fish-packed freezer to fit in 20 Beyond Burger patties (this is a fairly small freezer – I long for a full-sized one, but where would we put it?!) Anyway, this was how the morning went – almost like packing for the original trip all over again, on a smaller scale. Large-sized canned tomatoes take up lots of room. Ditto, 3 cases of cat food and a 17-lb. bag of dry food. Wah, wah, wah.
LAST DAY IN LOUISVILLE.
Day 36 – We’re leaving tomorrow, so we got some things done at the RV in the morning, then left for Louisville. It was a gorgeous, warm day. Yes, WARM. It felt so good to have the sun beaming down, 65 degrees, and no wind. When we got to Pam’s house, she and the dogs were sunbathing in the back yard. Everyone was happy and relaxed.

Day 35 – We hung around the RV in the morning, cuddling with the cats to keep warm; 30 degrees this morning. The high today was 45. After eating our leftovers from last night for lunch, we left for Half-Price Books Store in Louisville. There are two of these stores here, and we always return the books we’ve read during the year and get a new batch of reading material. We usually can spend hours roaming the aisles.

Day 34 – When we left at 9:45 a.m. this morning, it was raining with a little sleet. You cannot stop a horse lover from riding a horse – neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow; or something like that. We drove to Louisville and picked up Pam to take her to her horse-back riding class. It was east about a little over 30 minutes in the direction of Shelbyville before we got out to the horse country. Even in the nasty weather, it was beautiful – with rolling green hills & horse farms of many acres surrounded by black picket fences as far as we could see.

Day 34 – The high today was only 42 degrees; it was sunny. We hung around the RV in the morning, then went over to Louisville to see Pam and the pups.

Day 33 – Our car was done by 10 a.m. but we waited until after 1 p.m. for the shuttle to pick Rob up to take him to get the Honda. We both worked on a couple of projects, so we didn’t mind the wait. The windy, rainy weather continued and with it came a cold front. The campground started filling up for the weekend.

Day 31 – It was 45 degrees and cloudy at 7:30 a.m. We relaxed in the morning, then packed up to leave. We departed East Fork State Park at 11:25 a.m., after dumping tanks.
