CHARLESTOWN, INDIANA – DAY 2.

Day 32 – We left home in NY one month ago. It feels like much longer than that – that’s good! We can’t help but wonder where we’ll be writing from one month from now.

We got up early this morning since we had to be at the Honda dealership at 7:30 a.m. We were back at the RV before noon. After doing diagnostics on the car and checking out the alignment & back tires, they found the Honda needed a valve and they didn’t have that particular part on hand. The tires though noisy were still in good shape with plenty of tread, and the recent alignment that was done was still good, so we opted to not replace the tires yet. The dealership was able to order the valve for delivery tomorrow morning, and they will fix it tomorrow. They were kind enough to offer us a shuttle bus ride back to the campground, and they will pick us up tomorrow when the car work is done. Really, really good service from them!

We ran out of water this morning, and yesterday when we got to the campground, we’d discovered the water spigots had been turned off for the season. On the way out of the campground this morning we saw a not-very-obvious sign indicating a place where water could be obtained; one spigot had been left on for the winter. We wondered why we weren’t told about this water availability when we checked into the campground, but we were happy to have a relatively easy solution to the problem.

It had started raining soon after we got back to the RV and it got quite windy. A perfect day to refill the tank when we had nothing to do but sit around in bad weather, we did a quick pack-up of the RV and drove to the one operational water spigot, filled up our tank, and drove back to our campsite, settling in again. I napped, Rob worked on a computer program he’s been fiddling with, then Pam came by from Louisville and picked us up to go out to an early dinner. She brought one of her dogs, Ginji, to entertain us while she was driving. We went to Ramsi’s Cafe on the World, one of her (many) favorite restaurants. It was excellent, and we’d definitely go back again (and probably will soon). We had the Chipotle con Queso as an Appetizer, Pam had the Fish Tacos, I had Peanut Ginger Thai Noodles with Shrimp, and Rob had the Smoked Salmon Tartine with a fried egg on Cuban bread. Rob & I split the Chocolate Bourbon Creme Brulee and Pam had the Dark Chocolate Trifle Cake. All very good. Pam dropped us off back at the RV, and we relaxed for the rest of the evening. When we get our car back, hopefully tomorrow, it will be our turn to visit her.
