CHANGEABLE WEATHER.

Day 97 – The waves were still pounding away here, but after last night’s rain, the storm seems to have passed over us. Rob went out to the cliff and there was some bird activity since it was low tide. When he came back to the RV, he soon went to work and spent the morning washing the RV. It’s hard work, it’s big, and he was soaked when he came in for lunch.

A SLOW DAY.

Day 96 – The waves were really loud last night. It rained all night, and this morning we were in dense fog with a little rain throughout the morning. Rob didn’t go out to the cliff. It does seem like the storm has fizzled out a bit & may not be a problem here. We’ll see.

We were inside all day until later in the afternoon when we visited a neighbor. She’d invited us over for a catch-up visit. She bought her land a little before we bought ours. She had a cottage built and had us over for dinner years ago, but we hadn’t seen her much because she was never here when we were here. We had a good visit and caught up on years of activity on both our parts. Thank you, Maureen. Good seeing you!

The rain is supposed to pick up tonight but should end tomorrow. Hurricane Henri was downgraded to a Tropical Storm earlier. We don’t think it will do damage here, which is good since we really didn’t want to leave to head north and inland to get away from the winds.

KAYAKING IN THE HARBOR.

Day 95 – It started out foggy & humid, but when the fog lifted and the sun came out, we hurried to Smith Beach – the place on this peninsula that people use to launch kayaks. We had a wonderful paddle. It was almost high tide when we started out with rolling surf & very little wind. The Beach is near the mouth of the Harbor. We rode the small waves into the Harbor with the tide, which made it an easy paddle.

THE COMING STORM.

Day 93 – It rained most of the night and was very foggy with a drizzle this morning. Rob didn’t go outside for his usual morning cliff time. He has done volunteer work for The American Red Cross in New York State in the past. He had designed & is troubleshooting their Inventory Control Website. They contacted him with problems with the site, which they had found when preparing for Tropical Storm Henri, probably to be “Hurricane” Henri, expected to impact New York early-to-mid next week. He spent almost all day working on the website.

MUSHROOMS, FOG, AND CRABMEAT.

Day 92 – Cool and foggy again today, and it rained some last night. We went to Pembroke today to Betty’s Crabmeat for more fresh crab. Oddly, it was 10 degrees warmer there and sunny. It seems we’ve got our own little climate here at the land. Back to crab, when Betty handed me the containers, she said they had just finished picking this crab & it was still warm before sitting in the refrigerator. Talk about fresh!

Happy Birthday, Maple! We hope you enjoy your vacation! You’re 18 years old; hard to believe!

Day 91 – Cool and cloudy this morning, and again, nothing happening at the cliff. Our day was very exciting with a trip to Machias to do many weeks-worth of laundry. The dreaded task finally over with, we rewarded ourselves with Lobster Rolls for lunch from the River’s Edge Drive Up. They were good, not fantastic, but much better than our last attempt at a lobster roll! It rained a little today and is supposed to rain for much of the night. That’s okay: laundry is over & we had a some lobster!

ANOTHER DAY AT THE RV.

Day 90 – Today was a project day. Rob received the parts for the installation of new lights in our bedroom closets. That finished, his current projects are completed except for monitoring the tanks to make sure that the grey & black water sensors are in the right position before he permanently mounts them. All of these things would’ve needed to be done when we got back to NY & before our next trip, so the time he’s spent here working on these projects has been spent well.

Nothing was happening at the cliff when Rob went out this morning. Very quiet here. No pictures today. While he was working on his projects, I continued with my project for the next trip. I should be done within a day or two depending on how busy we are with other things. Tomorrow is laundry day, SO looking forward to that…..

We sat out at the tent reading for a couple of hours in the afternoon. 66 degrees and a little wind makes it a bit chilly. No complaints here!
