SPRUCES, MUSHROOMS, AND WASPS.

Day 98 – It looks like it will be a gorgeous day today. Rob spent a lot of time at the ManCliff this morning and got some pictures. I thought he might’ve fallen off, but he came back happy. Grin.

When Rob came back from the cliff, he went online to study the new kind of mushroom, wasps, and tree fungus/slime. Ick. Men!!! He downloaded a mushroom book with pictures & descriptions. Hopefully, now we can identify mushrooms as they come up. Then he climbed up on the RV’s roof to remove some of the old sealant in preparation for putting on new sealant. The girls said, “Ah, no……the GIANT is back on the roof!”, and ran to hide. I ignored it all and worked on more planning of the next trip. Click any picture below to see a slideshow.

Actually, the tree fungus/slime is concerning: he’s found that many of the gorgeous old spruce trees have wasps flying around them. Getting closer with the camera and zooming in, he saw that branches have a white powder-like substance and the wasps are flying around them like they would flowers. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE READING THIS KNOW WHAT THIS IS ON THE SPRUCES? We’d like to find out what it is, and if it is harmful to the trees. Thanks!

It was much warmer than it has been here, actually reaching almost 80 degrees. Bright sun, no clouds, occasionally a breeze, we survived the “heat wave” by spending the afternoon in the screened tent overlooking the Harbor. On a trip from the tent to the RV Rob discovered another new mushroom, and of course, he got a picture of it. We were unable to identify this mushroom, but did find out what one of this morning’s mushrooms was. We need to get a more comprehensive mushroom field guide than the one we downloaded this morning.
