THE COMING STORM.

Day 93 – It rained most of the night and was very foggy with a drizzle this morning. Rob didn’t go outside for his usual morning cliff time. He has done volunteer work for The American Red Cross in New York State in the past. He had designed & is troubleshooting their Inventory Control Website. They contacted him with problems with the site, which they had found when preparing for Tropical Storm Henri, probably to be “Hurricane” Henri, expected to impact New York early-to-mid next week. He spent almost all day working on the website.

Meanwhile, I started tracking the storm and found it is expected to hit NYC/Boston, then follow the coast and come up here. (Of course, we all know how the weather forecast can change!) But I started looking at alternatives in case we need to leave our land and go inland mid week. All the campgrounds around here are full, but Aroostook State Park up north does have a few campsites available next week. So now we have an evacuation plan.

The sun came out here around 1 p.m. It’s very humid and wet out, though. Yesterday and today we had lots of activity from the Great Blue Heron flying by squawking loudly, and a very noisy Bald Eagle in the trees. There’s been an increase in Woodpeckers and an active Hummingbird has been flying around both the tent and the RV. We’ve also seen an increase in Flickers; that usually happens when fall is coming. Fall – that would be very nice!

We went into town late afternoon to go to the recycle center, the grocery store, and the post office. It’s possible the crowds are not as heavy as they were a week ago. We are back to wearing masks whenever we go where we might come in contact with people, vaccinated or not. It appears breakthrough cases are increasing and more people are getting sick. Here we go again. At this time, we don’t know if Covid will impact future trips again. We’ll just move in that direction while waiting to see what happens. Sigh. Please stay safe everyone!
