LABRADOR – SHELTER FROM THE STORM.

Day 135 – Last night, the sky became overcast and the wind began picking up about the time it was getting dark (which is earlier & earlier now – summer is over for sure). I was nervous and kept waking up every two hours or so. At midnight it was very windy, no rain. At 2 a.m. it was raining and the wind was really blowing. At around 4 a.m. the wind was howling & the rain was coming down sideways. When Rob got up at 7 a.m. it was raining and very windy; I asked Rob to close the shade so I wouldn’t have to look at the bushes blowing so hard.

LABRADOR – THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM.

Day 134 – As of this morning, Dorian remains a Category 2 Hurricane & is headed for Nova Scotia, then Prince Edward Island, then right up the Strait of Belle Isle between Newfoundland & Labrador. It could drop to a Tropical Storm by the time it reaches us on the eastern coast of   Labrador; it depends on the force of the winds.

LABRADOR – A TRIP OUT FOR SUPPLIES BEFORE THE HURRICANE.

Day 133 – Last night it was pretty windy; the ladder which is hooked up to the back of the RV was clanking. The wind should decrease later today. That’ll be nice. It was beautiful out this morning with sunny skies and some billowy clouds, a deep blue sea with rolling waves, and again, the wind.

LABRADOR – WAVES, WIND, AND RAIN.

Day 132 – It rained hard last night. Felt fairly warm & humid this morning in spite of the fact that the wind was increasing again. By noon the rain had stopped. The Honda had gotten really filthy with all the dirt roads we’ve traveled since we got here. One side of it got washed fairly clean by the previous rain & windstorm. This morning Rob turned the car around so the other side would be washed this time. The wind increased during the afternoon. We brought the RV slide in on the passenger side because the wind was hitting that side and banging around the awning that covers the top of the slide. So glad we are not out in the open. The Ocean is very choppy & rough; the waves are breaking loudly at the shallower parts of the shore. We are not going anywhere today.

LABRADOR – PINWARE TO BEYOND PORT HOPE SIMPSON.

Day 131 – Good-bye winds. YAAA!  Hello bugs. BOO! We got up this morning and the wind had died down, but the bugs were out in full force. We think we prefer the heavy winds. At one point later in the day, Rob said this: “It seems so quiet and peaceful out. You wouldn’t know it was full of  blood-sucking monsters outside.”

LABRADOR – RAIN & WIND.

Day 130 – It was raining hard most of the night & it continued throughout much of the day. The wind was quite high until the storm finally left this area in the late afternoon. We were really hoping we wouldn’t have to pick up & move to another campsite. It was a nasty day out to be packing up and moving, particularly having to take down the tent.
