LABRADOR – RAIN & WIND.

Day 130 – It was raining hard most of the night & it continued throughout much of the day. The wind was quite high until the storm finally left this area in the late afternoon. We were really hoping we wouldn’t have to pick up & move to another campsite. It was a nasty day out to be packing up and moving, particularly having to take down the tent.

We never did hear anything from the ranger, so we assumed the other campers who’d reserved this campsite either didn’t show up or he was successful in putting them elsewhere. The only advantage to the bad weather was that it kept the bugs down. One day without receiving any bites was great. When the wind & rain died down, so did the surf & we were surprised at how quiet it was out. We’d gotten used to the noise from the storm. This is a great campsite for storms since it is protected on all sides but the Ocean side by thick trees & bushes. There’s just the opening where you pull in and out of the campsite that is exposed. That’s a good thing because it appears September has lots of windstorms here.

We hung out with the girls, we took naps, we read our books, and we played UNO. Without the phone or internet we have no idea what the temperatures were today, but it didn’t feel too cold nor too warm. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful, then another storm arrives, the remnants of Cyclone Erin.
