LABRADOR – VISITOR’S CENTER CLOSED.
Day 137 – Since we finally have a connection, we could see that it was 36 degrees this morning & sunny when we got up. The girls don’t care – since we have electricity again, they have their heated pads again & all is well. We’ve added a Labrador sticker to our Canadian map, showing we’ve camped in another Canadian Province, but it’s disappointing that this trip we won’t be adding Quebec to the map. A good incentive to travel to Quebec soon.

We’ve been trying to get into the Visitor’s Center at L’Anse au Clair since we’ve been here. They supposedly have a wonderful interpretive center, but everytime we go by they are closed. This afternoon, after relaxing in the RV, doing some cooking & some catching up on the blog, we drove there again. Closed. We tried the Quebec Visitor’s Center near the ferry terminal. Closed also. What? September arrives and everything closes down? And we were frustrated when everything near our land in Maine closed down in October! NICE TALKING TO YOU, SUZANNE, BY THE WAY. (Our land in Downeast Maine was not badly hit by the hurricane, thank goodness.)
We didn’t do much today. Just the quick trip to the Visitor’s Centers & cooking, plus baking a loaf of bread. Rob hurt his back a couple of days ago. Regular icing & anti-inflammatories are hopefully doing the trick – no need to rush around and make it worse. Hey, naps in the RV with the cats aren’t a bad thing!

The high today was 49 degrees, a little rain, mostly sun, and almost no wind. We checked the ferry schedule and they were solidly booked until Friday when the afternoon & evening ferry trips only had a little space left. Priority is for the people & supply trucks who’d been stranded by the storm. We booked a trip back to Newfoundland on Friday (the 13th) at 1 p.m. – it was the first available.
