WHAT A DAY!

Day 43 – It was 42 degrees and sunny this morning when we got up. A great day for exploring, we departed the RV at 9:25 a.m. What all did we see today? Small villages, snow, rivers, trees, goats, flowers, tiny outport towns, lakes, moose #6, rough roads, helpful friendly people, ice pack in the distant sea, a fox, mountains, waterfalls, birds and icebergs. It was a good day.

Day 42 – The low temperature last night was 47 degrees – ever changeable! It rained from dusk to dawn, so we didn’t expect to have good weather today. We left for our next campground at 10:40 a.m. It was 55 degrees and cloudy.

WATERFALLS.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Deer Lake Municipal RV Park, Deer Lake, NL.

To: Sir Richard Squires Memorial Provincial Park, Cormack, NL.

Day 38 – It was 42 degrees last night with rain & wind. There’s a bigger storm coming in with snow and heavy winds. We leave today for a campground inland more protected from the wind gusts. It’s not a long drive to the Park; we checked it out a couple of days ago when we saw the winds were coming.

A CHANGE OF PLANS.

Day 36 – The low last night was 36 degrees. This morning when we got up it was cloudy. It remained cloudy all day, and in the afternoon the wind picked up enough to shake the RV a little. The wind was unexpected for today, but we knew it was supposed to rain early evening today through Saturday. Our plan was to leave here Saturday and go to La Scie, one of our favorite places in Newfoundland, and camp on top of the cliffs looking over the northern Atlantic (whales & icebergs in season). We were going to stay a week. The weather forecast beginning Saturday and lasting through Tuesday had us concerned.

HEADING NORTH.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Barachois Pond Provincial Park, Stephenville Crossing, NL.

To:Deer Lake Municipal RV Park, Deer Lake, NL.

Day 35 – It was 34 degrees when Rob got up this morning; I slept in. We took our time packing up. We didn’t have any hook-ups at this campground, so we had to dump our tanks at a dump station near the exit to the Park. After dumping, we departed at 11:05 a.m. It was 59 degrees and sunny – another beautiful day.

LA ROUTE DES ANCETRES FRANCAIS.

Day 34 – We made sure we didn’t sleep in this morning because we had a lot of ground to cover today. The weather when we got up was sunny, no wind, and BRRR! 31 degrees. We left at 9 a.m. and headed north and west off of Trans Canada Highway 1 and got on Route 460 towards Stephenville. As we departed the campground, we saw they were beginning road work on the campground roads – great!
