Day 29 – Rob was up at 7:45 a.m. It was a nice morning for a walk on the boardwalk. Mostly sunny & 40 degrees. He came back with amazing pictures of a Great Blue Heron hunting for breakfast. This must be a well-known birding location. In addition to lots of people walking their dogs, there are plenty of people staring up into trees with long lenses on their cameras. We are taking our cameras to the Brookgreen Gardens today since this is forecast to be the sunniest day in our near future.

Day 28 – It was supposed to be partly sunny this morning by 10 a.m. It’s after 12:30 p.m. right now & still very cloudy. We’d wanted to get some pictures (with sun) of this area and maybe go birding & gatoring. It was 33 degrees at 7:30 a.m. this morning. The girls are very happy with the heated pads!

Day 27 – At 7:30 a.m. this morning it was 38 degrees and cloudy, not changing much the next several hours. We left Carolina Beach State Park, after dumping, at 10:55 a.m., humid, very cloudy, and breezy, 40 degrees.

Day 26 – Rain, rain, rain. Warmish this morning at 50 degrees. We hung out for awhile then went to Michael’s Seafood to try the recommended Seafood Chowder. Nice place, cute décor, decent menu, we decided on a bowl of the chowder for each of us and split the appetizer of Blue Crab Dip with Pita Chips. Both were good, not great, but good enough. We thought both items were a bit too salty and very rich which some would consider to be a good thing. I think restaurants often make food salty to encourage people to buy more drinks. We just had water so they didn’t make money off that.

Day 25 – The bread, loaf 3, looks good but feels heavier & more solid than what we’ve made in the past. That could be good, or it could be bad. We’ll know when we have our sandwiches for lunch whether the consistency & flavor make the grade. We just started the kneading process on another loaf, one we’ve never made before, because we ran out of our garlic bread, wanted some for tonight’s spaghetti, and won’t be going grocery shopping until tomorrow. We’re trying the recipe for an Italian Herb Bread, however we’re doing the first part in the breadmaker & the actual baking in the oven. That way we’re hoping to be able to shape it like a long loaf rather than have it come out the size the breadmaker dictates, i.e., a sandwich loaf. An experiment; we have become baking fools.

Day 24 – It was 28 degrees last night, quite cold this morning at 8 a.m., but sunny. We don’t have electricity at this campsite which means the girls don’t have their heated pads. Two of them slept with us; the other two cuddled together on a chair. We do have heat, propane instead of electric. It’s not that bad!

Day 23 – Getting colder, 33 degrees this morning, sunny. Having full hook-ups at this campsite made it easier this morning when packing up since we didn’t have to drive over to the dump station before leaving. We discovered the Honda keys were missing, so that was worrisome, but Rob found them on the ground just outside the RV door. Phew! One of us must’ve dropped them. We departed for Carolina Beach, North Carolina at 10:40 a.m.

Day 22 – At 7:20 this morning, it was 48 degrees & sunny with some wind gusts. We took our time packing up & dumping, etc. We really like this campground & were sad to leave, but new places await us. The girls were good about going into the bedroom for traveling.

Day 20 – It was about 40 degrees this morning at 7:45 a.m., partly cloudy & windy again. When Rob checked things at home, he found the heat wasn’t working & it was 45 degrees in the house. Uh-oh, here we go again. He called the propane delivery company & they sent someone out to look at it. We’d run out of propane, they filled us up (and apologized), and now we’re waiting for the temperature to come back up. Tick-tock.
