Day 64 – Rob was up early at 5:50; Luna was giving everything she had to get him out of bed. It was 67 degrees & humid. I was up at 7:15, the girls were quieted down & fed by then. He took a bike ride through the campground & on some trails; saw 2 Deer but no Moose. There are areas of this campground where it’s noisy. We’ve been lucky so far on this side.
We’re supposed to get thunderstorms in the afternoon beginning around 1 p.m. In case it rained hard later, we spent the morning in the screened tent. We left a little after 11 a.m. to run some errands in Greenville, first stopping at the Moosehead Lake ticket office for Lake Boat Tours on the Steamboat, “Katahdin”. Thought we’d get reservations for Saturday or Sunday. It turned out the Boat Tour wasn’t currently running due to engine problems and still wouldn’t be in operation over the weekend. Maybe next time.

Got some supplies and drove back to the RV & made lunch. It had clouded up, 79 degrees. We needed to charge the RV batteries, so we turned on the generator. Also, taking advantage of the electricity coming in from the generator, we used the icemaker to make some ice for tonight. (The electric icemaker was a “toy” we recently purchased & have used a couple of times. It’s pretty handy for making on-the-spot ice cubes. Our freezer is kept so full of food; we never have room for keeping ice trays in there. The reason for today’s ice-making was that we found some fresh rosemary leaves when we were in town this morning – when we were in NY last May, we went out to dinner with friends to a Distillery where they offered this great drink with muddled rosemary, honey & lemon mixed with their Baby Bourbon, over ice. CAROL & TED….We are attempting to create our own later tonight.)
Fast forward to Wednesday night, we had our thunderstorms with loud, rolling thunder, but very little rain. We’d really like a good rain to quelch the humidity. Maybe tonight! We went inside, took our showers, and made a large batch of Rob’s Special Extreme—Garlic Cheese Bread to go with our spaghetti, made last night, & to freeze for future usage. Then we whipped up our version of the Tuttletown Distillery Baby Bourbon Drink, relaxed and THOROUGHLY enjoyed. Want the recipe; let us know.
Dinner and still the wish for more rain. Hoping for less hummidity and some peaceful kayaking tomorrow & Friday. The high today was 79 degrees and humid.
