Day 27 – It rained some during the night & the forecast was more rain and cooler during the day. Sounded like a good day for a drive south to scope out campgrounds for our next stop. Since Monday is a holiday & parks may be more crowded, we decided to stay at Boice Cope an additional night. We stopped at the campground host’s RV & paid our $20. Evidently this Park is a well-known location for sail-boarding and kite-boarding on the Lake, and the winds are supposed to pick up Sunday into Monday. It could get busier here, and there could be good picture opportunities. Also, there’s a Beach Hazard Warning for the Sunday/Monday timeframe about big waves along with the winds. The Ocean is already loud here; should be interesting!

Day 26 – Rob was up at 7:30; I got up at 8:15. 44 degrees this morning, sunny & clear. People were out already, walking trails & riding their bikes. We found out there’s a little-known, remote state park, Floras Lake State Park, adjoining this County Park to the south, and that’s where one of the hiking trails leads. There are no roads into the State Park, just hiking; we’ll have to check that out while we here.

Day 25 – It was 41 degrees this morning at 7:45 a.m., sunny & still. We aren’t in a hurry to leave since our next campground isn’t far from here. We’re going to Boice Cope County Park, north of here; it will probably take us a whole 20 minutes to get there. They have a dump station, and we can also do laundry there. Small park on the New River & Floras Lake. Sorry to leave Cape Blanco, one of the best State Parks we’ve ever camped in, but Boice Cope looks promising, too.

Day 24 – We got up at 7:30, looks like another nice day, clear & sunny, 49 degrees. Rob took a bike ride to the lighthouse, then we both walked the Coastal Trail to the cliff overlooking the Ocean. Sat out there a while, very peaceful, then walked back to our campsite on the heavily wooded, well maintained trail.

CAPE ARAGO HIGHWAY.
Day 23 – We were up & heading out by 7:55 this morning, clear & sunny, 48 degrees. We had to be at Coos Bay, Honda World at 9 a.m. About half of this trip was new territory for us. The sun was blindingly bright. Surprisingly, for a work day in a fairly large city, traffic wasn’t bad at all.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED; FOUND THE CIDER.
Day 22 – Beginning of Week 4. Hmmm…it seems longer than that since we left home. We got up at 7 a.m., 48 degrees & partly cloudy. No bear sightings yet. There are some really big ferns here; it would be cool to see a bear come ambling out of the bushes. Probably freak out the kitties, though.

HAPPY CAMPERS.
Day 21 – October…..that signifies beautiful fall colors to us. We’ll definitely miss that, one of our favorite times in the northeast. There will be colors here, certainly; but it won’t be the same.

HELLO, PACIFIC OCEAN.
Day 20 – We got up at 6:50 a.m. It was 48 degrees & clear. Our plan for the day was to take a drive to the coast, and once we got there, scope out campgrounds for the next week or two. The kitties are happy at this campground; it’s quiet and they get lots of sun on the dashboard for napping. We like it here, too. We will definitely come back again if in the area.

SLOWING DOWN THE PACE.
Day 19 – We slept well again last night, and truly hate to leave here. Curious what our next stop will be like. We got up at (Rob) 7 a.m. & (Vicki) 7:30. The girls were rambunctious again this morning. 45 degrees & cloudy – looks like rain. We slow down the travel pace finally & hopefully keep it that way. More people left the RV Park this morning; they’ll be closing for the season October 1. We’re very glad they were still open when we came through!
