Day 97 – As we pack up to leave & head home, it looks like a nice travel day. It has been awhile since we had a travel day without rainy conditions. We departed from the campground at 9:40 a.m.  It was 56 degrees, partly cloudy, light breeze. I accidentally steered us the wrong way, telling Rob to go right when we should’ve contined going straight. Hmmm….I guess you could call it an accident, but I had us heading towards Montpelier to visit Bernie, LOL. (It was also tempting to go up to Canada.)

Day 96 – Sunny, breezy & 43 degrees at 7 a.m. this morning. Rob made espresso; a beautiful day. He is online, researching recliners for the RV. We think recliners would be much more comfortable for the longer trips we plan to take. The current couch is fine but its main purpose is to provide a fold-out bed & we don’t need that; we want the comfort of recliners, & the cat’s agree. I’m making lists, what I do best, LOL. We’re leaving tomorrow, going home, & there’s so much we need to do in a short period of time. Time to organize myself or everything won’t get done. Back to reality, eh?

Day 94 – Another hot & windy day is forecast for today, but this morning was lovely. All the windows were opened & a wonderful breeze was blowing in from the Lake. Around 11 a.m. we left to get a few supplies at a local store recommended by our friend, Cathie. She was right about Keeler Bay Variety Store, (it was hard to find at first; it’s located at the Citgo Gas Station at Keeler Bay, and it was an amazingly well-stocked little store with fresh vegetables & fruit, local meats, freshly made sandwiches and local foods, plus liquor, beer, wine, and importantly  all the basic groceries one might need). We’d tried twice to find the store, not knowing it was at the Citgo, but it’ll definitely save us trips to Burlington in the future. Thanks, Cathie.

Day 93 – Last night Rob & I were admiring the trees in the campground, many different kinds, some are flowering, and all are perfectly shaped and trimmed. We were thinking that they must hire someone to keep up the lawns and trees. It’s all so perfect. And what do we see this morning? JC is up on a tall ladder trimming a big evergreen nearby, chopping off some tops and some huge branches. JC & Emma do all this, too?

Day 91 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANN D!!  MAY ALL YOUR BIRTHDAY WISHES COME TRUE!!

54 degrees this morning and raining with 20 MPH winds. There were some things we needed from town, like COFFEE, so we drove Southeast & over the Lake & South again to Burlington. We were reminded once again how much we like this City and Vermont, in general. The biking trails for one thing, and the courtesy they pay to bikers for another thing, and everything is so clean – like where is the litter – it’s been pretty bad in some places we’ve gone thru.

Day 90 – HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!

It’s the beginning of Month #4.  This makes us feel partly sad, and partly in awe – in awe because it’s gone by so fast & being gone this long had originally seemed like such a long time; and sad because one week from today we’ll be driving home & this journey will be over. I think it’s gotten into our blood, and we were meant to travel. We had considered this trip to be a kind of practice trip in anticipation for much longer trips farther in the future; it went so well that we don’t want it to stop; we want to keep traveling on to the next adventure. There’s this feeling that we want to see it all and we want to see it now and we don’t want it to stop – ever. We were afraid the cats would get antsy. They did not; they adapted quite well.  And us – people had said things like, “just wait, you’ll be at each other’s throats in no time being confined together day in & day out in a small space” or “aren’t you bored?” or “what will you do all the time?” or “don’t you get on each other’s nerves?” or “aren’t you tired of traveling around yet?”, etc.  Captain Bringdown Strikes Again.  Well, it’s been wonderful and has surpassed everything we thought it could be & more!

Day 88 – Foggy & cool this morning but it’s supposed to be a nice day, so after coffee we got ready to go kayaking. Black flies & mosquitoes have started hanging around, so we brought lots of bug spray with us. By the time we headed out, the fog was gone and it was indeed a beautiful day. After an hour’s drive we arrived at the boat launch site off Route 30 a little South of Red Tavern Road. 10:20 a.m., breezy, sunny with puffy white clouds, low 60’s, and hungry bugs.
