COSUMNES RIVER PRESERVE.

Day 156 – Another sunny, breezy day, the high was 73 degrees. Every day we watch the parade of large RV’s leaving, and then an hour or two later a new parade of large RV’s arrives. Almost everyone here stays only one night; it’s a great stopover destination right off Interstate 5. You’ve got your gas stations, your wine tasting, and your fast food restaurants right by you. So convenient. Ha ha.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Los Banos Creek Campground, San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area, Los Banos, CA.

To:Flag City RV Resort, Lodi, CA – Cosumnes River Preserve & Staten Island Preserve.

Day 154 – It was 10:55 a.m. when we left Los Banos Creek Campground – 60 degrees and sunny with a nice breeze. The water was like glass this morning and we wished we could stay longer, but we have to leave this SRA sometime!

Day 109 – We were up before 8 a.m. & got that final load of laundry done. 33 degrees and clear out. The chores are just about done, so we’re checking out today and going a short distance to Brannan Island State Recreation Area/State Park near Rio Vista. Before we leave, we’re getting the RV (and car) washed at a drive-thru truck wash – both are pretty dirty from being on the road.  (One of the rules at all the Parks we’ve been to is that you cannot use Park water to wash your vehicles. Understandable.)

STUCK IN LODI AGAIN.

Day 108 – Remember that song? Hey, the Lodi area isn’t so bad. And I bet the people who’ve lived here all their lives must hate hearing that song. Anyway….it was 34 degrees this morning and kinda hazy but it cleared up and became mostly sunny. We got our laundry almost done; just have one more load to do tomorrow. I guess lots of people use this “rest stop” as a one-night stopover place because starting about 9 a.m., the RVs were packing up and departing.

Day 107 – We were up before 8:00, 37 degrees and cloudy. The campground was nearly full. We’re curious how busy it will be below Sacramento (in Lodi, CA). We’re driving to a new campground today, one with full hook-ups. The kitties can have their heated pads back, and we’ll have dumping capability at our site. Independent campgrounds are almost always more expensive, but with the Passport America discount, we’ll only pay $29 per night (half price). We’ll be able to do laundry, too. Once we’ve caught up with the chores, we can move back to a state or county park. We’ll pay even less & hopefully it won’t be as crowded.
