Day 37 – The girls are settled on the dashboard on their blankets in the sun. We decided not to leave here yet. We’ll stay another day. What else is new, LOL. We were up around 8 a.m., 42 degrees, partly cloudy. There’s really no reason to leave until we have to unhook everything & drive to dump anyway.

GOOD DAY SUNSHINE.
Day 36 – Beginning of Week 6. Yawn. It’s so nice here. We did decide to pay for two more nights; we’re not leaving until tomorrow. We got up a little before 8 a.m. this morning, 40 degrees & sunny. We plan to just stay here & hang out today, take a bike ride, hike a trail & go down to the River. A couple more campers arrived yesterday; I think we’re up to 8 in the 2 loops including the campground host. Much too crowded, LOL.

Day 35 – We were up at 8 a.m. The girls were maniacs this morning. 40 degrees out, sunny. Birds everywhere, hopping around on the ground eating bugs. We had paid for 2 nights when we got here. We’ve decided to stay longer, at least one night, maybe two. Next time we’re out we’ll go over and pay for one night at least until we make up our minds. Got some biking, hiking and birding to do yet.

WILD RIVER.
Day 34 – We got up at 7:10 a.m. We have no electricity, water, or sewer at our site. (We do have batteries & a generator & big holding tanks.) We have no phone & internet connections. What we do have is tons of birds, turkeys, and deer at this Park. The trees are extremely healthy and beautiful. Our site has trees & bushes surrounding it but not so close in that we don’t have sunlight – this thrills the girls & they are spending their time watching the birds from various sunny locations throughout the RV. We have a private grassy area behind the RV, and weather permitting, we’ll put out the chairs. Very nice.

Day 33 – We decided to pack-up & leave, go to a different campground, one of the places we visited Wednesday that’s further up river. It was still raining and a bit windy when we arrived at Quosatana National Forest Service Campground, by the Rogue River, about 30 minutes above our previous campground. It was a narrow, winding road – wouldn’t want to do that in the RV every day. We drove thru & picked site #40, were all set up by 12:30 p.m., light rain & 55 degrees.

Day 32 – Raining steadily when we got up, 45 degrees, cold & dark out. And we slept till close to 9 a.m., the kitties, too. At a little after noon, it was still raining, 47 degrees, and we made a big batch of pancakes. Not going anywhere today. Gonna hunker down & catch up on some paperwork.

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD.
Day 31 – The second month of this trip was supposed to begin with a jet-boat ride on the Rogue River. It started raining during the night and it continued throughout the morning. We postponed our trip until Saturday since it shows rain ahead for several days. I wish it would pour down rain over these fires in the west.
RECAP – End of Month 1, Trip #3
We started out a month ago in the Hudson Valley of NY & have travelled 3,416 miles. One month later we are at Gold Beach, Oregon. The first 3 weeks we stayed at most campgrounds for just one night, occasionally two. Once we got closer to the west coast, we increased our campground stays to as much as 5 nights at the same place. We crossed through 11 states and spent at least one night in each, starting in New York to Pennsylvania to Ohio to Indiana to Illinois to Iowa to Nebraska to Wyoming to Utah to Idaho to Oregon. So far, so good. It is nice though to be slowing down for several months & really getting to know the areas we’re staying at. We were stunned at the beauty of every state, each one different in its own way. We’d like to return to each & explore more.

ANN D. – THINKING OF YOU WITH THESE FIRES BEING SO CLOSE!! BE SAFE!!
Day 30 – We got up around 8 a.m., 48 degrees & cloudy, looks like rain is coming this way. Anyway, we’ll be heading south in a bit. New territory to cover.

ANOTHER WINDY DAY.
Day 29 – Beginning of Week 5. Again, like last week, it feels like we’ve been gone longer. We were talking about the travelling experience last night – both of us feel like this is home, it’s not an extended vacation, this is every day, this is home. So I guess when we get back to our home, it will feel like a vacation? I don’t know, it all seems so natural and comfortable to wake up in this environment. The man with the cat, Mathilda, recently retired & sold his house, bought a trailer & is travelling full-time, for at least a couple of years, he says, then he’ll see what’s next, more travel or what. We are increasingly feeling that being a full-timer would be easy for us, at least until we got too old. Hmmm……
