NEWFOUNDLAND – SOCIAL BUTTERFLIES.

Day 110 – We went to bed early last night hoping to get up & out early today. There’s lots to see around here & we’ve happily been just hanging around at the campground. It rained hard during the night & there was lots of lightning, not much thunder. Rob took a hike this morning on a trail that goes from the campground to the top of the hill and got to see a couple of juvenile Bald Eagles fly by at eye level.  We were working at getting ready to leave for some exploring when Whales were spotted & change of plans, it was whale watching time.

NEWFOUNDLAND – LUNA AND THE SNAKE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIN!  WE HOPE IT’S BEEN WONDERFUL!

Day 109 – We slept in again this morning; I think it was because we were interrupted during the night by the strong winds. We’d left the windows open throughout the RV, but in the bedroom we had the shades down, causing the shades to bang around every time the wind blew hard enough. Finally, shutting the window over the bed solved that issue. DUH.  It was 64 degrees this morning with lots of sun & few clouds, but still windy.

NEWFOUNDLAND – SITTING AROUND LA SCIE AT THE CAMPGROUND.

Day 108 – There’s something about the Ocean. You get up in the morning to an ocean breeze, a little salt, moisture, and sea in the air. The air is cool, fresh, and clean. You look out the front window & stretch as you view the deep blue of the ocean below, and a feeling of calmness settles in around you. Uh huh. We aren’t going anywhere today.

NEWFOUNDLAND – THE HUMPBACK OF NOTRE DAME BAY.

Day 106 – Sixty degrees again this morning, mostly cloudy, humid. It is supposed to get warmer today, then rain. We decided to explore some other areas around here. We won’t be able to do & see everything in this area we’d wanted to – we are moving to the Baie Verte Peninsula tomorrow because we had previously made reservations there. We do need some groceries & supplies before we leave, since there aren’t any large towns where we are headed. Today we’ll check out the little villages in the vicinity of the one grocery store around, hoping to see some Whales feeding on Capelin. People keep saying the Capelin are rolling; we want to see this.

NEWFOUNDLAND – THE SPERM WHALE & THE LAKE MONSTER.

Day 105 – The high today was 67 degrees and it was mostly cloudy until later in the afternoon when it poured down rain. When we got up it was 60 degrees, cloudy & humid. We stuck around the RV until after lunch, then drove into Triton. We stopped at the Post Office to mail something, then looked for a place where Rob could get a haircut. The place was closed.

NEWFOUNDLAND – BUCHANS JUNCTION TO ROBERT’S ARM.

Day 103 – We are leaving bugland today. Nice Park but we did not volunteer to donate this blood. At 7:20 this morning it was 52 degrees and sunny. We departed Mary March Park at 10:50 a.m. The clouds had come in and it was 64 degrees. The first part of the trip involved very rough road, but after that the girls remained quiet & slept together, a bundle of multi-colored fur.

NEWFOUNDLAND – BUGS BE GONE, PLUS BUCHANS & MILLERTOWN.

Day 102 – We slept better last night with the bugs under control somewhat. It was 55 degrees, partly cloudy, and breezy at 7:30 a.m. We hung around the RV until after lunch. Rob checked out the windows in the RV hoping to find how the mosquitoes were getting in. He plugged up some drainage holes and other possible spaces that might’ve allowed them entrance.

NEWFOUNDLAND – BUGS

Day 101 – We woke up early this morning. Mosquitoes were on the rampage in the RV. We’d left most of the windows open all night – we do that often – but the mosquitoes had found a way in. There was no breeze to keep them away; they were out in full force. The girls helped us as we got rid of them, one-by-one, but both of us had gotten a number of itchy bites by then. It didn’t appear they were biting the girls; they were not scratching anyway. It was 57 degrees and foggy at 6:15 a.m.
