BAIE VERTE PENINSULA, DRIVE 1.

Day 111 – We overslept this morning. The cats, instead of jumping on us to wake us up, a couple of them actually climbed under the covers and went back to sleep. It was kinda cold this morning, maybe that’s why. The low last night was 54 degrees, it had rained, and it was very wet out. When we finally did get up, we turned the heat on – in August!

RAIN AND WIND.

Day 110 – It rained all night and continued through the morning, 56 degrees. The wind increased throughout the day. Rob had to take the screened tent down when the roof collapsed inward – just a little too much for the tent and we didn’t want the poles to bend. The high temperature today was 57 degrees and that’s the warmest it’s been all day.

40 MILES OF BAD ROAD. AT LEAST.

TRAVEL DAY

From: Fallsview Municipal Park, Bishop’s Falls, NL.

To:Island Cove Town Park, La Scie, NL.

Day 109 – It was 58 degrees when we got up, and very cloudy. The mosquitoes were ravenous for some reason; Rob can attest to that from when he was outside putting things up in preparation for leaving. We had no bugs at all in Harbour Breton, but they were really bad at Bishop’s Falls.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAPLE!!! SWEET SIXTEEN, MY HOW TIME FLIES!!!

NEWFOUNDLAND – LAST DAY IN LA SCIE.

Day 114 – It was 60 degrees this morning at 7 a.m. with dark skies & a breeze. It stayed fairly windy throughout the day. The rain started at 10:15; we were out in the screened tent until then. We will have been here 8 days when we leave tomorrow. The weather has been wonderful & we’ve really enjoyed our stay – a great town with beautiful scenery, and we considered staying longer. But we still need to visit Labrador! We will come back again.

NEWFOUNDLAND – THE LA SCIE OUTPORT MUSEUM & TEA ROOM.

Day 113 – This morning, Rob walked the Capelin Cove trail along the Harbour, looking for whales while watching the fishing activity. We hung around the RV until just after lunch today. The weather forecast was for rain most of tomorrow & dry with just partly cloudy skies today. Figuring we’d be staying at the Park tomorrow, we took a final exploratory drive this afternoon. Surprise! It rained hard when we were gone & things got pretty wet inside the screened tent & RV. That’s what we get for believing the weather forecast.

NEWFOUNDLAND – ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A DRIVE.

Day 112 – The peace & quiet plus the sound of the waves were interrupted last night by the rowdy ones turning on their generator (they’d done that all day previously when they were here & we couldn’t figure out why – there ARE electric hook-ups). But this time the couple from Switzerland called the campground manager & said it’d awakened them – their site was right next to the rowdy ones. The manager drove over & told them to turn it off; the rowdy ones left this morning, darnit. It was 59 degrees this morning & lovely out again.
