EASTON WATERFOWL FESTIVAL.

Day 398 – We were up and out before 9 a.m. this morning, because we wanted to get to the final day of the annual Easton Waterfowl Festival as they opened and before the crowds arrived. We succeeded and were even able to get a parking place about two blocks away rather than parking a long distance and taking a shuttle bus into town.

Easton is a wonderful historic town located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Just walking down the streets of the old city and looking at the grand old homes is fun. There were venues in most of the major buildings in town, and we focused on seeing the fantastic wood carvings, the paintings, and sculptures. There were also lots of things to do for children and demonstrations for all, for example a Raptor demo with the beautiful live birds close up, Bird Calling Contests, and Retriever Dog demos. Food booths that served anything from burgers, hot dogs, and tacos, to Maryland Crab Soup, Cream of Crab Soup, and Crab Cakes, were located throughout the Festival. (Since we were having Cream of Crab Soup at Gail’s for a late lunch, we forced ourselves not to eat – nor did we go to the Beer/Wine Tasting Booths.)

At Gail’s later, we visited with Shane, my other stepbrother (SO nice to see both Shane & Chris) and were happy we did not eat earlier because we had an afternoon feast of Crab Dip w/crackers, green salads with Shrimp, and hot rolls for dipping in our Cream of Crab Soup – much better than booth food! And Shane, thanks so much for the wine; Ivy sorry we missed you! Elaine stopped by for a bit (thank you for the stylus, big happy grin). All was good. Gail and Miss Lacy, we will miss you; thanks so much for everything!

We got back to the RV early this time and caught the cats sleeping – what else is new. Tomorrow morning we have to leave Easton. We’re driving to Woodbine, NJ for our last camping on this trip. We’ll be here a week and plan to visit much of the southern Jersey Shore for birdwatching.
