TRAVEL DAY
From: Trap Pond State Park, Laurel, DE.
To: Nummy Lake Recreation Area Campground, Belleplain State Forest, Woodbine, New Jersey (NJ).
Day 399 – Brrrr. It was 33 degrees at 6:30 a.m. this morning. The high today was only 49 degrees, but it was sunny and that helped. We’re getting closer to home, and winter temperatures are expected there. Looking forward to that first snowfall!

We departed Trap Pond State Park at 9:15 a.m., after dumping tanks. Around halfway through our drive, we crossed from Delaware into New Jersey. Much of our route was in traffic, though none was stop and go, and we passed through many cities. Today was a holiday, and a Monday, so that also helped with the traffic. The parts of NJ we drove through were similar to the parts of DE we saw. We made a few stops including a rest stop, a quick lunch stop (leftover pizza, thanks again, Chris & Liz), and a stop at an RV dealership to try to find a part, which had broken, for connecting our external propane tanks to the RV. So far, we’re unable to locate the part in stock.

We arrived at our campground in the Belleplain State Forest at 1:20 p.m. Yay, Monday’s: the campground wasn’t crowded at all. We had reserved site #105CCC for 7 nights. After checking in, we drove to our campsite and were pleasantly surprised. A spacious level site with no one around us, water & electric hook-ups, and easy-in/easy-out, we were able to unhook the Honda quickly and set up camp without delay. It was 48 degrees and sunny. We had never been camping in this area. We are within driving distance of Cape May and Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge, both areas we’d been to on vacation about 20 years ago. We’ve never explored the Pine Barrens, and that area isn’t far from here. It’s supposed to rain for a couple of days, so the one-week time frame of these campground reservations should work out well. Who knows, maybe we can visit Trump at his casino in Atlantic City and offer our condolences, ha ha.
