AND ANOTHER.
Day 317 – It was supposed to be another hot day, so we got our cooking out of the way early. We’ve been having problems with our RV generator, so we can’t count on being able to use the air conditioning to cool it inside. We have to say: the girls are funny when they’re too warm. Usually the floor (sheet vinyl flooring) is not where they go to relax. It’s their heated pads and the dashboard where they luxuriate. But with us having to deal with the hotter weather and a generator that only works sometimes, we occasionally walk into a room and find them spread-eagled on the floor, belly up. And of course, anyone who has a furry critter in their house knows that one CANNOT resist a belly up!
Speaking of cats: Liz & Chris – since you, Liz, mentioned that the video of the cats leaving the “travel room” brought up the theme of “Bonanza” into your head, we cannot travel, then open the door to let them out, without the Bonanza music blaring. LOL. And, regarding our proximity to Alaska, we’ve talked about it and decided that Alaska is so huge, just a few weeks wouldn’t do it, and that’s all we’d have before winter began after leaving the Icefield Parkway in Alberta, Canada the end of September. So we’re hoping to do Alaska as a separate trip of its own – a month to get there 6 months in Alaska and a month to get home.

This morning we baked up a bunch of Scallops, cooked a pan of Brown Rice, and steamed a large batch of Broccoli, enough to last for three nights. By then, hopefully, the so-called heat dome will have moved on. Meanwhile, every day we try to amp-up during generator time (9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.), which allows us some air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day. (Wish we had electric hook-ups at times like these.) Rob has been trying out different fixes while trouble-shooting the generator. Changing the oil filter worked temporarily, but today we had trouble again.
We spent parts of the day when it wasn’t too hot in the screened tent. Then when the temperature rises, there’s not a whole lot you can do. Maybe we should lie belly-up on the cool floor with the kitties?
