SEQUOYAH NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, DAY 2.

Day 50 – After taking care of some business in the morning, we left around 11:30 a.m. for the Webber Bottom Unit of Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge. We decided to switch the order from yesterday’s trip so that we’d do the main refuge in the afternoon and the smaller unit earlier. It was a beautiful, sunny day.

We drove through both units, slowly, as usual. We looked hard for more river otters and more armadillo, but saw none – grateful we saw them yesterday! We did see thousands of Snow Geese; we saw much less yesterday. I bet if we would’ve come here two weeks later, it would’ve been truly an amazing sight. Also, after getting a closer look at the large red and gray squirrel we took a picture of yesterday and today, we saw that it was a Fox Squirrel, rather than a gray squirrel like we have at home – it was very pretty.

On the way back to the RV, we stopped in the small town of Gore and got pizza – mediocre – but we won’t be finding much variety in these small towns. Tomorrow we leave for a state park campground below Oklahoma City. We’ve never been to this area before.
