Day 30 – Today was almost identical to yesterday:  very foggy, cool, and we both worked outside, etc.   This afternoon it rained a little.  Supposedly it will rain harder tonight and continue raining for a couple of days.  Since there’s so little happening, we think we’ll do some multi-day posts beginning with this one.

Day 31 – It rained hard last night and on & off today.  It didn’t get over 59 degrees and between the fog & rain, very little visibility.  We just stayed inside, caught up on some paperwork – bills, budget, etc., and read our books.  Sometimes you need a rainy day to catch up on stuff you’ve put off doing.

Day 32 – It rained fairly hard most of the day and was pretty windy.  59 degrees this morning, the high was 72 in Machias where we spent several hours today doing chores.  Laundry is always a dreaded task, especially going to a laundromat, but with the weather being so lousy, it was a good day for it.  We got some propane for the RV.  And also, we went to Machias Marketplace for some local organic produce & to the health store for items that weren’t at the Marketplace.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN O.  WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR DAY!

Day 29 – Very foggy today.  We both worked outside.  Rob was digging a hole in the area we want to build a cottage to see how many feet it took before reaching cliff ledge.  If he had hit cliff ledge sooner than four feet, we might have had to blast to put in a foundation for the cottage – something we don’t want to have to do.  He dug four feet and hadn’t reached rock; that’s a good thing. I was chipping/shredding cut-down trees & branches for use on the trails in the form of wood chips to cover & protect the paths.

Day 28 – 7:20 a.m., 54 degrees, foggy.  We aren’t usually here for most of September, so this weather pattern is new to us.  It didn’t get over 55 degrees today and just kept getting more foggy – to the point where we couldn’t even see the water below the cliff.  The weather has varied from day to day.  At times it’s seemed more like October (which we are familiar with).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DUANE!  WE HOPE IT’S WONDERFUL!

Day 27 – Another sunny day; 44 degrees at 7 a.m.  Not much happening today.  Rob did more trail work.  We sat out in the screened tent, watched the lobster boats go by.  Later we got pizza again and that’s about it.  Thinking about you all & hoping you’re doing okay!

Day 25 – It was still windy this morning, and definitely not 30 MPH as forecasted, 6:30 a.m., 46 degrees.  It rained lightly, then stopped & the sun came out.  Once the wind dies down, it will be a great screened tent day.

Before lunch we went into town to do the recyclable trash.  There was nobody around; you wouldn’t know September is a popular time to be here.  After lunch it had warmed up enough to open the windows for some fresh air.  We made some phone calls, took care of business, and Rob looked into getting a plumbing permit for the new septic tank.  Exciting stuff, grin.  We spent the rest of the afternoon in the screened tent.  Beautiful day.  The windows are still open in the RV – a nice little warming trend is upon us.

CONGRATULATIONS, ANN D. ON THE NEW JOB; WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!

Day 24 – Rain and heavy winds are coming this way today & tonight, maybe tomorrow, too.  It was 38 degrees and cloudy at 7 a.m.  Figuring we’d have to hunker down in a few hours, Rob went outside to work on one of the trails before the winds started.  Two trees had come down over the winter and a section of one path had collapsed.  He got most of that cleaned up & came inside just as the wind picked up & the rain started.

Day 22 – Another beautiful, sunny day here.  At 6:45 a.m., it was 37 degrees with full sun.  It only got up to 57 degrees but there wasn’t much wind.  Rob worked on some projects around the land, cutting overhanging branches from the trees along the driveway in preparation for the larger trucks & machinery to drive next year down to the home site.  There are also several other projects that need to be completed before work begins on the cottage.  We spent the afternoon in the screened tent.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SOPHIE!  WE HOPE THIS DAY, YOUR REAL BIRTHDAY, IS PURR-FECT!

Day 21 – We slept in a little bit this morning but were awakened by the cats’ impatient stomping across our pillows, “let’s get this party started!”  38 degrees & sunny.  We were planning to go to Tide Mill Farm for organic produce this morning, but I called & they didn’t have the vegetables we were looking for.  Saved us a trip.

Suzanne, one of our neighbors here, stopped by & we all talked for quite awhile.  It was good to see you, Suzanne.  Otherwise, the day was mellow.  We spent the rest of the afternoon in the screened tent.  60 degrees was the high, sunny & no wind.
