NEWFOUNDLAND – BRRRR!
Day 160 – It rained last night. When it first started we heard sleet when it hit the roof, but it was mostly rain. It was 33 degrees this morning at 8 a.m. A little windy, cloudy, and that made it feel really cold. There was a dusting of snow on the mountains again.

We did three loads of laundry while waiting for the weather to improve. The sun finally came out after lunch, mixing with the clouds, but it never got over 43 degrees. We stuck around the RV most of the day, then drove down to Neddy Harbour for another great dinner at the Black Spruce Restaurant. They are closing for the season on Saturday. It was cold out; we got several pictures on the way to the restaurant.

Dinner was excellent. Because they were closing Saturday, some of the items on the menu previously were no longer available. Rob got the last two Quidi Vidi Mad Mike Belgium-style Ales; I had two of the awesome Partridgeberry drinks, the Mooseberry. Here we go: are you hungry? The Chef’s taster was Proscuitto on top of a house-made Rainforest Nut Wafer topped with Sweet Fruit Coulis. We don’t eat meat but we ate it anyway. One bite each won’t kill us. LOL. Appetizers were a repeat of the Homemade Cavatelli with the Broccoli Pesto, vegetables & Asiago Cheese that we had last time, and a bowl of Roasted Cauliflower Soup with Chili, Parmesan Reggiano, & Chives, served with homemade sourdough bread & peppered butter. We split those along with an order of the Fresh Pan-Seared Scallops over Basmati Rice with roasted tomato, onion, and red pepper surrounded by Green Masala Curry sauce, & a repeat of the homemade Spatzli with roasted tomato & peppers, baked with Gruyere Cheese, served with charred zucchini & toasted pine nuts that we had before. No dessert this time; we’d had plenty! Everything was great & the view of the mountains with the dark clouds moving overhead was amazing. We decided to take pictures of our meal. We got the Appetizers, but completely forgot to take a picture of our Entrees. We were in such a hurry to dig in. And we even had the phone sitting right there between us. Oh well, Enjoy your appetizers!
