Day 141 – Colder last night, 35 degrees at 8:30 this morning, but very little wind & sunny. Rob sat outside with his coffee. Later Rob went out in his kayak, hoping to find his hammer. Yep, he was working the other day & he dropped his hammer in the Harbor. He really liked his trusty old hammer, and it was low tide. He thought he could find it in the seaweed since he’d seen where it landed. He tried to climb down the cliff from the Harbor View pad, then realized that was crazy. I personally think it was crazy to go out in the water when it wasn’t even 40 degrees yet. But he drove the car with the kayak on top to Smith Beach, kayaked down to our land, got all muddy, but he did find his hammer. He is happy now.
After lunch we went out to work. Rob cleaned up the two trees that went down during the storm; I worked on chipping the tree debris that hadn’t been used to make pads & pathways. After about two hours of chipping, the chipper/shredder jammed up. I had to stop working; Rob will take it apart & fix it tomorrow. I did, however, get a decent start making piles of chips for covering the paths & pads before we leave. Rob measured the stumps of the trees that came down: one was 12 inches & the other was 10 inches wide; both were over 40 feet tall. The high today was 46 degrees, sunny and no wind.
