Day 91 – Up at 8 a.m., it was 36 degrees & sunny. Before last night there was no one camping near us. Then after it got dark, a trailer moved in right behind us and the noise began. A toddler was complaining/crying & people were running around – okay so these things happen. But after ½ hour of er-er-er-er-er-er-er-er noise, which sounded like someone trying to start an engine over & over & over & over, Rob went over to see if they needed help or something. It was the child sitting on a little electric bicycle-toy going back & forth again & again. Okay then, that was explained. Then around 10:30 p.m., a truck came in pulling a trailer. It’s dark out & they cannot see if sites are big enough for them, so they must try backing in to every site around us, over & over again, headlights blaring into the bedroom. We have to shut all the shades & windows & put in ear plugs. Poor us, LOL. No really, these are the disadvantages of people arriving after-hours at night, picking their own sites when the office is closed and/or children wound up from a long drive being set free as soon as they’ve arrived & the parents are setting up. There are definitely times when being at home in your own quiet house is preferred. That, or else we are really getting crotchety in our old, retired age. LOL.

Day 90 – We slept in this morning. At 8:30 a.m. it was 38 degrees & sunny. Looks like a gorgeous day. We did laundry this morning & made a bunch of garlic-cheese bread to freeze for future pasta or soup meals. By noon it was sunny inside the RV & warm enough to open all the windows for some fresh air. The girls are thrilled.

Day 89 – We got up at 8 a.m. this morning, sunny & 38 degrees. The mornings we can get a signal & check to see what’s happening in the world, are downright depressing. What a change it would be to look at the news & see only good things. There’s plenty of wonderful things out there in the world; wouldn’t people like to see some of that kind of news once in awhile? Makes you want to go back to bed & pull the covers over your head. Anyway……can’t do that……we’re changing campgrounds today. Maybe they won’t have a signal there. Sigh.

Day 88 – We were up by 7:45 this morning, 34 degrees & sunny. The fires rage on in Southern CA. A campground we’d planned to stay at in early January was destroyed last night when the fire reached the Ocean. We’re staying here another night, then going a short distance to just below Mendocino, to stay in an independent RV park with full hook-ups for several nights. Gotta clean out the tanks, and this park is located near some things we wanted to do.

Day 87 – I slept in this morning, not getting up until 8:45. Rob was up at 7:30 a.m., & it was 34 degrees out & sunny. I am a slow riser – I’m not one of those people who bound out of bed in the morning, ready to start the day. Rob, on the other hand, can get up & out fairly quickly. As I stumble around in the morning, waiting for my head to clear, it’s often the perfect time for him to take his morning coffee constitutional outside. He came back this morning from his walk with lots of bird pictures to go through & prepare for the blog. It works out well. He knows better than to rush me out the door, LOL.

FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.
Day 86 – 32 degrees again this morning & a little icy out when Rob took his walk. No clouds, sunny, beautiful day. We heard this morning that there are now huge fires in Ventura, and due to the annual Santa Ana winds, they are out of control. This is crazy.

Day 85 – Beginning of Week 13. Frost on the old pumpkin this morning, 32 degrees, 8 a.m., sunny, not a cloud in the sky. The girls still lovin’ the sun on the dashboard. Rob took a walk to the beach, wanted to see how close to the campsite it was. Just a short trail thru some woods & there it was. Roads to the Day Use Area were still closed. He found that the parking lot area for Lake Cleone was partially underwater, and it was part mud, part ice to get on the boardwalk which circles the Lake.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY! WE HOPE YOU HAD A FANTASTIC DAY! SEE YOU SOON. (We’ll let you know the exact dates as soon as we know when we’ll get there. It’s hard to say right now since we’re making our way very slowly south, but a guess would be last few days in Dec. or first few days in Jan., somewhere in that range. We can’t wait to see everyone!)
Day 84 – We were up at 7:45 a.m., raining lightly (rained all night), 39 degrees. It seems like a good day to change campgrounds, having adequately covered most of this area, but we sure would like to go to that restaurant again! Last night there was another camper here & someone in one of the cabins, but no one close to us. This is such a beautiful Park; people are missing out on this one. We’ve decided to go to the coast & north, above Fort Bragg, to MacKerricher State Park. There will be more people, certainly, but there’s so much to do in that area.

Day 83 – 36 degrees this morning, cloudy, 8:20 a.m. The sun filtered through the clouds briefly around 10:30; we were waiting to take our hike until it warmed up some. Had lunch & left for the Day Use Area & the beginning of the Big Hendy Trail at 12:40 p.m., 54 degrees, partly cloudy.

Day 82 – We slept very well last night; it helped to have made a decision (and to see that the temperature in the house was up to 50 degrees this morning). This morning at the campground, 38 degrees once again, 7:30 a.m.
