Day 75 – It rained on & off all day, very heavy at times, and late afternoon it ended as the sun peeked out in the mist. High today 75 degrees. The activity began immediately as camper doors opened and people & pets emerged from captivity. We’d been sitting inside with the cats and were very happy to at last open some windows. The campground was full. Let the bar-b-queing begin.

Neighbors from down the loop soon marched by with potholders & casserole dishes in their hands. Evidently a party had been planned up the loop; children, adults, & dogs arrived at the 5th wheel trailer across from us & up the loop a bit. It appeared to be a family & friends reunion and all were greeted with hugs. This made us hungry so we opened the beer & wine, sat in our comfy chairs, and contemplated making a dinner of our own, later opting for cooking shrimp tacos using some of our shrimp from the Gulf in Louisiana. Country music was playing loudly & kids were running up & down throwing frisbees and yelling, so we decided to drown out the noise with our own selection of music, this time Gary Clark, Jr. followed by Laith al Saadi, singing the blues and playing their guitars.

While sitting in our chairs, I saw one of the guys camping next to us trying to make a fire in their fire pit. It was pretty wet out & he was rubbing sticks together & making progress. I looked at their new Airstream and wondered what it looked like on the inside; they are such beautifully-made, classic-looking vehicles. A little later I looked out and something I saw just cracked me up, and I grabbed the camera. I hid behind a wall inside the RV because I didn’t want the guys to think I was stocking them & taking pictures of them or something like that, and as I snapped a picture, several captions for the picture came to mind. (All this amusement and caption-thinking was either because I’d been blogging all day & my mind was still in that mode, or because I’d been drinking wine.) I said to Rob (who was sitting in his chair engrossed in something on the cell phone), “Look at this, it’s funny”, and his reaction was like, really? Not now I’m in the middle of something. So I said, “No really, honey, I promise it’s worth your while to get out of your chair and check it out. I just took a picture.” So he came to look out the door, and he, too, laughed and was immediately creating captions for the picture. Maybe you had to be there, or at least drinking, but it makes us laugh everytime we see it.
