Day 76 – At 7 a.m. it was 60 degrees and sunny, a beautiful morning, and it was supposed to be mid to high 80’s later in the day with more rain coming in the evening. We took our chances at the laundry facilities and got our next load of laundry done by noon. People were leaving the campground and lined up at the dump station. The weekend was coming to a close, and we were glad that with this crowd, we had full hook-ups and wouldn’t have to wait in line at the dump station tomorrow when it was time for us to leave.

This morning Rob encountered the guys next door who invited us for drinks later. They were on the maiden voyage of the brand new Airstream trailer which they were leasing, trying it out to see if it was the floorplan they’d want to purchase. One of them was planning on retiring soon, and they wanted to pick our feeble brains about long-term camping. In the afternoon we added the Ohio state sticker to our map and sat around with the cats, who were happy the campground was quieter now that people were headed home. It was very hot and humid and dark clouds were rolling in.

Later we went next door to the Airstream and had a great time drinking & chatting with Tom & Gary. They were very nice, very interesting, and we had lots in common, and we wished we had more time to hang out but we were leaving tomorrow. We got to tour the Airstream, we’d always wondered what they were like inside. It was beautiful throughout, hard wood flooring, beautiful cabinets with clean lines, lots of windows, roomy, everything high end. They said they weren’t happy with this model due to cabinets which overhung in the bedroom and lots of head bumping was occuring; a different floorplan didn’t have that issue and they may switch to that one. We told them about Technomadia.com and what we’d learned from that website, they showed us what they’d found to be the perfect vacuum cleaner, and we talked about how we handled things while on the road like finances, medical care, home security, mail delivery, etc. As we relaxed more around them, drank more and got to know them better, we felt we could show them the picture of their campfire, complete with captions. They did not take offense and we all howled with laughter. We’d been very happy in KY when Pam had taken pictures of us by the RV (most of our pictures  are taken by one of us and having pictures of both of us together was nice), so we offered to take their picture by the Airstream. The evening went on and we discovered that they knew we were “safe” neighbors when they saw the Bernie 2016 bumper sticker on our car. We felt comfortable with them and they went on a tour of our RV and met the kitties. Turns out they are cat people, too, and the girls got along well with them. Back to the Airstream and we discussed trips we wanted to do in the future, and they told us about some great places in Ohio. We gave them a link to our blog after getting permission to put them in it, and promised to be kind to them in the blog.  All good things must come to an end and we stumbled home to our RV.  Tomorrow we travel north and east to the Pennsylvania/Ohio border near Lake Erie.

Hocking Hills State Park, 19852 St. Rte. 664S, Logan, OH 43138, (740) 385-6842. “http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/hockinghills”  Large, older campground in the Ohio hills, a popular place in a touristy area with quaint shops and tours of caves. Very pretty area. Some full hook-up sites but mostly electric-only with some no hook-ups at all. Laundry facilities, clean bathrooms & showers. Some sites are small and close to the next sites; some have shade, some do not; most sites are not very level. End of April – very crowded on weekends and almost empty on weekdays. We would stay here again and explore the area, probably some great drives and a cave tour would be great.
