Day 377 – Today was our last day at Mingo NWR, for this trip anyway. It was overcast with little sun and it was quite windy. The high today was 79 degrees. No migrating waterfowl. But we saw other wildlife, like our other two days here.

Day 376 – Today was a lot like yesterday except we took a different Mingo National Wildlife Refuge Auto Tour route. Today the drive took us up into the hills of the Ozarks where there were a couple of lakes, rather than yesterday’s drive which traveled around the fields that are usually flooded during the fall when waterfowl are expected to arrive.

Day 375 – We slept in some this morning since for the first time in days, we didn’t have to leave by a certain time for a traveling day. It was 48 degrees and sunny when we got up. It’s quiet and peaceful here; we really like this campground.

To: Lake Wappapello State Park, Ridge Campground, Williamsville, MO.
Day 374 – It’s warming up. At 7 a.m. this morning, it was 35 degrees and sunny. The high today was 68 degrees – a very pleasant day. We departed the Springfield/Route 66 KOA at 9:45 a.m. Our destination today was to be Lake Wappapello State Park near Wappapello, MO. We’ll be there 4 nights, principally to visit Mingo National Wildlife Refuge, one of our favorites.
MINGO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, DAY 3.
Day 43 – There was frost on the old Honda pumpkin this morning. 27 degrees and sunny. We bundled up and left for Mingo at 10:30 a.m. One last day of pictures at Mingo. We leave tomorrow for Arkansas.

Day 42 – We left for Mingo this morning for day 2 of our visit. We’re still only one of two campers at the campground. So quiet, so nice. On the way to the Refuge, we stopped to take a picture of the bales of cotton by the side of the road waiting to be picked up for processing. The sun was out and it looked like it would be a nice day.

Day 41 – It rained last night and is supposed to rain a little this morning. After our showers and coffee/tea, we headed to the NWR. It may be cloudy and rainy, but we can still drive through and see what critters are there this time of year.

Day 40 – Today we’re driving to Lake Wappapello State Park in Missouri. This will be our fourth visit to this Park and the wonderful Mingo National Wildlife Refuge. The other three times we were here, it was in March or April; we’ve never been here in the fall.
MINGO NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, Day 2.
Day 74 – 40 degrees at 7 a.m. this morning, mostly sunny. On the way to Mingo NWR, we checked the whole campground. It’s only us and one other trailer. Quiet! They have several cabins; no one was camping in them but they looked nice, each with a porch overlooking Lake Wappapello. When we arrived here last Friday (not that long ago), there was no sign of Spring. Today there were some trees & flowers blooming.
Day 73 – We have this entire campground loop to ourselves, maybe the entire campground, we haven’t checked. The weekend is over. The only noise last night was some thunder in the distance. The forecasted thunderstorms never reached us, though; just a little lightning & some rain. It was 48 degrees when we got up. Today was a day of chores.
