A DAY AT THE CAMPGROUND.
Day 241 – It rained again during the night, but the rained continued relentlessly during the day. We didn’t leave the RV. It was a good opportunity to appreciate the babies and to nap with them. We also spent some time working on the blog, so now it’s ready to go whenever we next have a signal. The high today was only 54 degrees.
MEMORIES OF THE GIRLS.
Day 240 – Eight years ago today the kitties came to live with us. They were a little over 11 weeks old. We had chosen them when they were only a few weeks old but had to wait what seemed to be an endless amount of time to bring them home. Soon after we’d first met them, the entire three litters that had been brought in together developed the extremely-contagious Colici Virus. Many of the kittens didn’t make it. We still had an elderly cat at home and couldn’t bring the babies home until it was safe for Junee. Still, we had to keep them separated from Junee for a month. Two of the four tiny kittens had been quite ill, both weighing less than 1 pound when we brought them home. For the first couple of months, we had to weigh them all daily. Finally all were gaining weight and they were out of the woods. They have brought us so much joy since we brought them home!

Day 239 – It’s a little colder here at night but a little warmer during the day. On one side of us, barely visible through the trees, there’s someone (or maybe two people) camping in a very small Airstream trailer; we can’t see well enough to tell if it’s one person or two – that’s how quiet they are, darnit. Grin. On the other side of our site, between the trees, we can see a young couple camping in a tent. Not a peep out of them.

We read on the news this morning that the Pacific Northwest has experienced record-breaking rains last month and this month so far. Last summer Vancouver Island and Vancouver had record-breaking heat. We decided we’d rather have the rains than the heat. No more complaining.

Day 236 – It rained hard all night last night, and a good portion of today was rainy. No sun, whatsoever. The Seal was not floating in the little bay on his back basking in the sun. It was gloomy most of the day, but when the rain occasionally let up, we did get some pictures.

Day 235 – There’s always something going on at the campground. The RV is facing the harbor and a little bay or inlet. The large RV windshield faces it all. Every day we see Deer, Canada Geese, Seals, River Otters, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Heron, Raccoons, Purple Martins, Starlings, Sea Gulls, Ducks, and Swallows. It’s really just a matter of whether we grab the cameras and go outside, risking the activity might stop, or just continue to view from inside the RV.

Day 233 – Today we woke up early; it was a good thing because the wildlife were active early, too. It was cloudy and 56 degrees at 6:45 a.m.

Day 232 – It was 51 degrees and cloudy this morning. Before packing up to leave for the ferry, we had a couple of errands to run in Port Angeles. We mailed some things from the post office; we didn’t want to deal with a Canadian post office, different postage, etc. Then we made a quick stop at the health store – because we lost our toothpaste. We searched all over and couldn’t find the toothpaste and our current tube was running out. Weird. Whoever heard of disappearing toothpaste.
