A CHANGE OF PLANS – OPTING FOR ANOTHER QUIET DAY.
Day 300 – We were supposed to travel today, the relatively short distance to a new campground. Months ago, we’d made a reservation for six nights at Telegraph Cove’s Alder Bay RV Park & Marina. But plans change, which is one reason it’s sometimes difficult to plan where you’re going to be several months in advance. Because we didn’t like Cluxewe Resort RV Park and went to a different campground instead, and because we so loved our substitute, Marble River Recreation Area, we were in no hurry to show up at a campground that was popular with lots of people. We decided to stay an additional night at Marble River, called Alder Bay and they said, no problem, they would hold our site, we will spend another day in the screened tent fighting off dangerous animals in the woods.
Seriously, the strange-noise-scare of yesterday afternoon amounted to nothing. Thinking it over two things came to mind: Better safe than sorry, and it was probably just a raccoon, not too dangerous unless it had rabies.
When we got up this morning, it was 55 degrees and sunny. It remained sunny with a nice breeze all day, and the high temperature was 74 degrees. A perfect summer day. We spent most of it in the screened tent. It was quiet with no strange noises. We did have the Bug Zapper with us in case prehistoric bugs flew into the tent, in this ultra green, wooded environment reminiscent of Jurassic Park.
We loved the peace and quiet of this campground so much that we would have canceled the entire six-day stay at Alder Bay if we didn’t already have plans and reservations. Plans to take a ferry for a day-long visit to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island, and reservations for a Grizzly Bear Tour to the Great Bear Rainforest in Knight Inlet on the mainland of British Columbia.
