As told to Rob by Vicki.
THE MEDICAL SAGA CONTINUES
Day 164 – It felt wonderful to have a semi-private room away from the chaos of the ER, with the constant equipment alarms and activity.
The bed wasn’t comfortable, but it was better and they were monitoring me much less frequently. Rob got here around 7:30 a.m. and I was evaluated by PT to make sure I could walk safely with a walker. Now I could walk to the bathroom with Rob’s help. No more bedpans Yay!!!
My doctor came in around 9 a.m. (he reminded me of Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s Anatomy). He put both of us at ease. He gave us the results of my tests.Icould eat solid food, no new clots and my heart was doing OK. Due to the danger of arrhythmia causing further clots, I was given a halter monitor so they could be sure that I wasn’t having any issues. They would monitor my heart for 72 hours to see if any arrhythmia occurred. If so, my meds would have to change.
Later in the day, I was able to sit in a chair and take a short walk around the nursing station using a walker with Rob. I got out of breath easily, but it was great to be able to move around. I ate a small amount, but had no appetite.
Throughout the day I was able to answer more and more questions correctly when I was being assessed. Still not all correct, but improving.
Rob set up a group text to keep friends and family up to date on my progress. I wanted to thank all of you for your support! Rob also kept my daughter Pam informed with detailed information on my progress.
Both Rob and I were tired and he crawled into bed with me and we passed out for midday nap. Rob left around 7 p.m.
Geeze, travel safe home and take GOOD care of yourselves!!!
